Hi Scollie, welcome to the forums.
Well done for taking a brave plunge and reaching out. Acknowledging we have a problem takes courage. You can ditch the thought of being attention seeking. It is unfounded. You are obviously distressed and giving silent pain a voice is what these forums are all about. So you have come to the right place.
You seem to be struggling alone, which makes it all more difficult. Now that you have started the conversation, I hope you will continue to post. The more we get to know you and your situation, the easier it will be to point you in the right direction.
To start with, you could perhaps do the K10 test (top left of this page in the Facts section). It will help give you a better idea of where you are at re your mental/emotional head space.
May I ask how old you are ? If you are still at school, a talk with the school counselor would help. No reason to feel embarrassed. S/he will have heard it all before and some more. Counselors are willing and qualified to be there for you.
Have you checked Headspace ? Its site welcomes people under 25. Copying this link into your browser will give you access :
https://www.headspace.org.au/
Meanwhile, navigating the Young people section of these forums will let you know that you are not and don't need to be alone. There is even a virtual chill out space, the Friends Cafe (see the Social Zone) where you can share/discuss anything you are interested in.
Looking forward to reading more from you.
Please take care.

Hey scollie,
Its been a little while since you posted and I was just wondering how you're going?
I read your post and totally resonated with it. So even if you feel alone, you aren't. I too often find myself wondering why I'm so dissatisfied, and wonder why I look forward to being in my dreams. I think it's totally normal - as ridiculous as that sounds. I do think it's important to have people around us to support us though some of these thinking processes though and I often chat to my family or gp. Have you ever spoken to anyone about it?
Did you get a chance to look at any of Starwolf's suggestions? They seem really relevant and I'd be interested to see what you thought.
