Hey, I’m a teen who is struggling because I think a guy at my school is overly obsessed with me to the near point stalking. He’s constantly talking to me in areas I don’t feel safe in (up against a locker, in a corner etc.) and asking me if I want thing such as gifts. He doesn’t have many friends so I tried to be nice and it’s gotten to the point where he thinks I’m his best friend and I’m in love with him. I don’t have a good relationship with my parents and don’t want to tell the school because of their obligation to inform them. Does anyone have any advice as to what I should do?

Hi, welcome
Feeling safe at school or the workplace, anywhere really is a right that we all have and if you dont feel safe then you must take action. So here is my suggestions from the first things to try to the last-
- "Can I ask you something?.. can you talk to me without putting me in a corner/without being so close."
- "Look, I think you're an ok guy but I'm not seeking any relationship - is that what you are after"?
- If your school has a counselor then consult with them or a favourite teacher.
Remember, it's hard for guys to approach girls to seek out a relationship without the girl telling them they aren't interested. They often have no idea of the girls interest. When I was at school I liked a girl and never made an approach. 15 years later her sister told me that her sister had a huge crush on me... a good example.
So although you dont feel safe he needs to be told by you and later others that you arent interested. However, remaining a talkative friendly person is the most mature way of being so when you pass him in a corridor say hi.
"When someone takes an interest in you that means you are likable. When you are cornered you are justified to feel at threat. The threat must be removed but his intent might not have been to make you feel unsafe"
