i don't really know what to do about my thoughts, phobias and anxiety triggers. and i just don't understand how this all happened really and i just feel guilty, guilty that i have everything so good and yet can't seem to have it together. It hurts me and i feel like i can't escape it sometimes. i don't understand and i don't know what to do. i know i can't do anything. but i don't know how to push through the bad days.

Hi reeg01,

Sorry to read what you are going through currently.

Are you able to write down here what you are feeling regarding your anxiety triggers or phobias, sometimes writing them out and having other people relate to them because they may have the same or similar stuff can help you as well, I am an anxiety sufferer with a few phobias as well. My anxiety triggers in random spurts personally, sometimes they just come on especially if I am alone with my thoughts, that when it triggers but it's having things in place to calm yourself down is the key.

Have you ever spoken to a GP about these issues at all? They are so great and can help immensely, the GP and a psychologist helped big time with my anxiety.

My best for you,

Jay

Hi Reeg01,

Anxiety sure can be debilitating but it is a medical condition, something happening to you, not caused by you. Just like diabetes -for example- it has nothing to do with weakness of character. There is no reason whatsoever to feel guilty.

I wonder if you have been struggling with this alone and how long it has been going on...Talking to a GP about it would help dispel the myth that you are to blame. You may need to go on medication to restore functionality and quality of life, perhaps also to be referred to a counselor. The right help will help you manage the situation and reclaim some measure of control.

Meanwhile, have you checked coping strategies, like mindfulness, Relaxed Body Scan, Relaxed Breathing ? Downloading the Smiling Mind or Buddhify app could also be helpful.

I hope you will continue to talk with us and let us know how you go. We would like to know you better so that we find out how best we can help and support you.
