Hi there F&B
Welcome to Beyond Blue and thank you for coming here and providing your post.
You’ve come to the right place for someone to chat to.
Ok, so you’ve been with this for around 4 years or so … now during this time, have you been to a GP, I’m assuming yes, as you’ve seen a psych and that must have been how you got this appointment arranged. Has the GP prescribed any medication for you and if so, was that some time ago? If yes, it could be that the meds may need a review to see how they’re working for you?
It is good to hear that your partner sounds supportive, trying to console you, which can be very important … to have someone who will try that for you. But yes, for the partner to “get it”, to understand depression is often way too difficult. I mean, most of us who suffer from it on this site, don’t understand the bloody thing either.
Anyway, this is just a quick message to say “Hi” to you and I do hope you can get back to us.
Kind regards
Neil

Hey foxandbear, thank you for having the courage to reach out to our community.
I am sorry to hear about your job. As someone who loves mine and values it highly, I would be in a similar state of something like that were to happen, not to mention the stress of not having an income.
Have you seen your psychologist since this has all happened? While it is fantastic that you have a loving and supportive partner, it is important to talk to someone who 'gets it' and can help get you out of your slump and get the motivation back. Perhaps you could take up a new hobby or start a fitness plan? Use this as an opportunity to better yourself instead of reminiscing on the negative (I know it's easier said than done but I believe you're 100% capable of beating this).
Crystal 🙂
