Hi, I just need advice on actually getting a mental health assessment, I actually feel like I do need one at the moment because lately my mental health has just been really going down. I don't know how to bring this up to my parents, because they're kind of the types who don't believe in mental health. But I've kind of just been downplaying my feelings at the moment, thinking that it's probably just because I'm on my period and it's kind of just maybe stress. I just have no clue what to do anymore.

Hello and welcome to the forum.
I’m sorry that you haven’t been feeling well, but so pleased that you are willing to seek professional help. It definitely can get better for you with the right help.
A GP conducts a mental health assessment, usually in an extended appointment in their office. You can organise this yourself, but unless you can find a bulk billing practice there will be out-of-pocket expenses.
You can also visit a government-run Headspace clinic where they offer a whole range of care and can connect you with local support services. You can check if there is one close to you on Google.
Many people experiencing mental health issues benefit from support and this community will definitely do its best to help you.
Having said the above, it could really help to have your parents support.
I’m wondering if you could try talking to your parents about your feelings and symptoms in a general way and suggest that you’d like to see your doctor.
I have no idea if this applies, but for example, “ I’m having trouble sleeping at night and it’s really hard to focus at school” or “I’ve been really low on energy lately and don’t feel like going to sport”.
Your parents may not get mental health now, but you might find they want to get it, if they know you’re struggling.
Once you get to a doctor with one or both of them the doctor can help you explain it to your parents. Just a thought, you know them and I don’t.
