Hello one and all!
I'm new to the BeyondBlue forums, so I thought I'd start by introducing myself so you can get to know me a little bit.
I'm 24, female, and do actually drink lavender tea. My favourite things to do in my spare time include reading fiction novels, and going hiking. I'm currently completing my Master of Professional Psychology which is just a fancy way of saying that I want to help people when I finally start working.
I'm going to be around on the forums on Wednesday and Thursday mornings, and will be trying my best to listen and support you, as most of you do for one another already.
So that's me... HI!

Welcome to Beyond Blue LavenderTea
Great to have you onboard. So pleased you selected BB for your placement.
A little about me - I retired last year. While adjusting to my new lifestyle I had a couple of falls that sent me spiralling down, so by December, as I waited to see my psych, I joined up here. I've lived with PTSD, anxiety and depression for a long time now. I manage it as it arises. My most recent psych gave me the best tools yet to help move from my spiral - to look and find my core beliefs that make me feel the way I do. It's the best so far and the results are almost instantaneous (i.e. once I've isolated the trigger).
Again welcome!

Hi Lavender and lovely to have you here on the Forums with us. A psychology student on placement, that sounds pretty impressive. You did not state whether you have any personal experience with depression or anxiety, but good on you for wanting to help others.
I've been a member here since December, and found the support and empathy from other members to be invaluable. I have a supportive and understanding MH-orientated GP. Plus I've been seeing a fantastic clinical psychologist since late January, and who I have been seeing weekly lately. I have PTSD and CPTSD, along with the usual accompanying high anxiety, bouts of severe depression and SI.
Great to have you on board, and I will watch out for your posts with interest. Love your profile pic too. 🌺

welcome Lavender tea,
I have lots of lavender growing and use lavender for headaches but have not tried lavender tea but have tried many other teas including turmeric which is a very acquired taste and I am still acquiring it.

Hi Lavender Tea,
Welcome to the community here. There is a lavender farm in our region which we have visited a couple of times. While there I enjoy a pot of lavender tea and lavender scones! I did purchase some lavender tea to enjoy at home.
So are you offering your time and services to assist people with their issues here on the forum? I see you have the badge of Mentor. That is very noble.
One thing I have noticed on the forum is that some people do not seem to have a lot of knowledge on how to deal with a sense of grief and loss. I know it took me a long time myself to be able to accept grief and to move on.
Wishing you well with your studies and with assisting people while looking after yourself at the same time.
Cheers to you from Dools

@PamelaR, as am I, the work that BB does is amazing and I am thrilled to be a part of the team. Thank you for sharing. I'd imagine that retirement would be a massive lifestyle change but am glad to hear that your psych has been really helpful for you. I'd be really interested in hearing any more tips you've got, because it's always great to be able to find out new things to suggest to people.
@Mandy8, thank you for your words of welcome. As a long-time student, there has always been some level of anxiety with the amount of work we are given to do, but it comes with the field to be able to understand ourselves and try to practice a lot of self-care, as I would encourage for anyone and everyone really. And thank you for telling me a bit about yourself so I can get to know you.
@Dools, lavender scones? that sounds delicious! Correct! I am here in the mornings for the two days a week while I complete my Masters so that I can facilitate discussion and support others just in the way that you and the other wonderful Champions do. It's also a really helpful way to learn about others' experiences so that I can be better at what I will eventually be doing in the workforce. That's a really interesting point, to hear that people don't know how to deal with grief and loss, and definitely a good point. I have done some work recently in the area so over the next couple of weeks or so I might try to get together some information and start a thread about it if there isn't already one.

Hi LavenderTea and welcome to the forum community.
I am really thrilled to see some professionals joining in. It is always surprising to me that most professionals I have spoken to haven't been aware of the peer forums. They truly are an excellent resource available to a wider range of people than traditional services and any new professionals gaining awareness of these forums and sharing the word offline is in my view a blessing.
I haven't tried lavender tea but at a lavender cafe here in Perth I did try lavender icecream once, very unusual.
