Troubled Teen

My beautiful 16 yr old daughter is suffering anxiety and depression 2 years after a sexual assault. She struggles to get to school due to this illness. I’m so scared to leave her at home alone but I have to work.

Hi Miss Wendy,

welcome to beyond blue.

I am sorry what your daughter and you have had and are continuing to go through. I would assume your daughter is seeing a counsellor or psychologist? If I am wrong please tell me. Do you or your daughter have any sort of support network of people to call on if needed? Someone to talk to when you or she needs it.

Fir information regarding options for support, you could contact the National Sexual Assault Helpline on 1800 RESPECT (1800 737 732) or Kids Helpline on 1800 551 800.

You could also consider talking to a counsellor yourself to find out ways you can support your daughter.

I hope you will come back to tell more of your story. I am listening to you.

Tim
