Hi. I am new here and wanted to say hello. I have BiPolar 1 and chronic back pain. I have several other conditions but those are the two rulers of my life.
I volunteered in childcare for 12 years and have been studying to be a counsellor. I want to help others the way some professionals have helped me.
I have written 2 books about my life with BiPolar and love to paint. I also love cooking and watching movies with my cats.
Now that I finally feel stable (mostly) I am trying to find ways to stay that way. Any tips would be much appreciated.
At the moment I want to help others and if sharing my story can help someone, ask away...

Hi Tasa83,
Welcome to forum. That is great that you have written two books.
I have had bipolar for over 40 years and been relatively stable for over 20 years but it takes work and being totally honest with yourself.
For me it is important to know my self and what are the factors that affect my health.
I know if I get too tired, and take on too much, it affects my health so I try very hard not get overtired. People who dont know me may think I am lazy but I know what works for me.
I find writing down my thoughts in a journal helps so I can see any changes in my thoughts and behaviour.
How have you found studying?
It is considerate that you want to share your story and so help others.
There is a thread here called This bipolar life that you may want to have a look. It is an informal place where people with bipolar can cat and exchange ideas.

Hi Quirky,
thanks for your reply.
I always struggled with studies when I was young. Too many racing thoughts, no focus and too much time spent trying to fit in and failing.
Now I study online and love it. It is an interesting subject and something I can feel is right for me so I really enjoy studying, away from people and distractions.
I get called lazy a fair bit but if they walked in my slippers for a week they would never say the word lazy again.
I’ve learnt what is best for me, I juat have to put into practice.
ill check out your recommendation, thanks.
