Good morning everyone,
I've struggled with social anxiety, performance anxiety and Generalised Anxiety Disorder for several years as well as depression which resulted from the prior conditions over time. I'm here to vent and learn from others so that I can develop and hone my coping strategies in order to live a full and meaningful personal and professional life. I'm 27 years old.

Hi andyman911 and welcome to BB 🙂
Personally, I feel I need more information in order to formulate a reply. Would you be able to tell us what exactly you feel the need to “vent and learn” about? That would be a good place to start, cheers M 🙂

Dear Andyman911~
I'd like to join Mathy in welcoming you here where you can certainly both vent and learn:)
Actually you already sound on the right track talking of coping skills. Having anxiety and depression (which I'm afraid I have too) is a pretty big burden to cope with and I've found I need three areas to keep my life on keel.
The first of course is medical support. without it I simply kept going downhill. Do you mind if I ask if you are under treatment at the moment?
The second is personal support, which I was immensely lucky to have in the form of my partner who kept me going with patience, humor and understanding for an awful long time.
Thirdly is lifestyle. Here such things as avoiding - insofar as one can - things, situations and people that bring me undone. Partly it is living in a healthy manner, with nutrition, exercise, sleep and social interaction. Partly too it is distraction and self-reward. doing things I enjoy that take my mind away from everyday life. Things I look forward to on a regular basis. For me reading, movies, walking, pets and family.
I know both I and Mathy are asking questions, its just that to give proper advice we do need a little more.
We do hope you come back and talk again

Hi Andyman911, so great you're here. I'm pretty new here too so maybe we can help each other out. I'm an anxiety/ depression sufferer have been from about the age of 23 and I'm now 33. It's been a hard long road, one of which I'm still plodding on. Mind you reading some other posts my issues seem worthless. I almost feel like I'm on a roller coaster of emotions at times. Yeah meds help but ultimately it's our battle, and I've noticed that I still need to use coping mechanisms to get through certain situations, meditation, learning how to breathe properly, Shifting my mind to another task for distraction.. We have help and support out there but the buck stops with us, so to speak.
If you feel ok doing so maybe you could elaborate a little tell us a bit more about yourself so we can gain a better understanding..
Here to help -big hugs

Just take your time in replying, not everything needs to be said at once, that will pan out as the discussion continues.
It's great for you to join the site. Geoff.
