Support group for people experiencing legal challenges

Hi everyone, in addition to psychiatric help I am currently receiving, is there a forum or support group where I can connect with people who are facing legal challenges. It would help to share coping mechanisms.

Hi Nacrao, welcome to the forum 🙂 Sorry I don't know any support group that connects people facing legal challenges. Maybe you can look up on JusticeConnect, website: justiceconnect.org.au/our-services/

I would also suggest you find a social worker who has experience in supporting people facing legal challenges. I reckon they could work to build a bridge between the clients and the legal services by supporting clients with resource referrals, psychosocial support, etc

Sorry Nacrao, I read your post again and I assume you are looking for people who have similar experiences that support each other? I think a social worker or counsellor would help you in the first steps

Thank you so much, I appreciate your guidance. How do I reach a social worker who specialises in the criminal justice system?

Hi Nacrao,

this is the AASW official website for people finding a social worker: www.aasw.asn.au/find-a-social-worker/search/, In the third section (3 Must be a provider for?) and the fifth section (5 Provides specialist support with:) there are options for specialising in justice services.

sorry I'm not the expert, hope this would help you to a certain degree 🙂

Hello Nacrao, On The Road has given you some good advice, 'JusticeConnect' is a good option and they also have a group session, that's something to ask them.

You could also call Law Access on 1300 888 529,
https://www.clcnsw.org.au › what-are-community-legal.. and although this is foe NSW, they could help direct to other States.

https://www.gotocourt.com.au/legal-advice/ from 7 am till midnight on 1300 636 846 where you can talk directly to a qualified Australian lawyer and some solictors offer a free first interview.

https://www.familyrelationships.gov.au/legal-advice on 1800 050 321.

Geoff.

Thank you so much. I appreciate your guidance and help. It means so much to me.
