Hi Blue Kitty and welcome to Beyond Blue
I completely understand what you are going through Blue Kitty - Audits are anxiety provoking. No doubt about it. Their demands are often over the top. I have seen the consequences of their requests for documents first hand - 'huge basement' full of documents, just in case they were needed for audits. Everyone, including the lawyers were 'afraid to destroy them'.
For me, the biggest issue is - it isn't possible to control or to change the auditors behaviours. So I needed to work out how to manage my own stress and anxiety. This of course is the difficult part isn't it?
I'm pleased to hear you are seeing a psychologist. Getting help from a health professional is one of ways to manage anxiety and stress. So good on you for doing this. Maybe talk to your psych about your triggers, i.e. the requests from the auditors and what tools they can offer you to get you through these times?
Have you browsed our forums at all? There are a lot of people who have work related anxiety and stress. Think about doing a search using our search field at the top of the page. Enter keywords, e.g.
- self help tips for managing anxiety
- work anxiety
Keep reaching out Blue Kitty. You're not alone.
Kind regards
