Hi 🙂 welcome

Sorry you're in a bad way, makes it so much harder not being able to afford treatment.
I always assumed but it may not be the case that we need to be on centrelink to get MH mental health free visits (could have this wrong but 6 & can be up to 10 a yr.
Your GP would know and do you take medication to help.

Not sure when I'll be back but will 🙂

Hi Guest and welcome to the BB Forums.

I too have anxiety, and have spent most of my life in rural communities. I'm sorry to hear that you feel so sad, lonely and isolated. Although most mental health conditions contribute to those feelings, you do have the added factor of being physically isolated due to where you live. Have you been formally diagnosed with anxiety?

Your partner used to be supportive and thats great. I wonder what changed for him? It may help to give him some of the information that can be found here on the website that relates to Anxiety. Knowledge increases understanding I always find.

Is it due to your location that you feel you do not have any friends? And you also say that you do not have family support. You do have family however, but it sounds as though they do not live nearby. Is there any chance that you could get away occasionally and perhaps stay with family members? Do you currently work at all?

You say that you cannot afford treatment. Are you aware that if you see your local GP, and he considers you need treatment, he can put you on a Mental Health Care Plan? This would entitle you to 10 x psychological visits per year, subsidised by Medicare. There may be a small top up payment, however many psychs will accept just the medicare payment which is currently $124.50 per visit. Another option could be for you to ask your GP if there are any counsellors in your area that could help you. These visits are often at no cost to you.

Meanwhile you have come to the right place for understanding support and advice. You will find many members here who are great people, very understanding and compassionate. Bear in mind that we are not medical practitioners, we are simply the same as you ... we all experience a mental health condition, and find it beneficial to interact here with other like-minded people. It may help you to feel less isolated at the same time.

Have a browse of some of the other Anxiety threads, and also some of the Social Zone threads which is a great place to connect with existing members. You will be made to feel very welcome. I hope to see you around.

Hey Life 🙂

Sherie what a well said and excellent informational post, you deserve the blue voices badge 🙂

So if someone's working can they access a MH plan too. I know if on centrelink payments we can.

Thanks Demon for your compliment. And yes you are still entitled to be put on a MHCP, even if earning an income. You get an initial 6 psych sessions in the year, and an addition 4 if your GP considers it is warranted. And this is renewed annually.

Hi Life sucks, hope you're feeling okay today. Living on a rural property, there is never any shortage of things needing to be done, so I expect you keep pretty busy with that alone. Do you also have children, or any special pets perhaps? I hope you are able to find something to do today which will help to brighten your day in some way.

Heyaz

Life I thought when I just saw your name again, let's work on changing that to lifes good.

So here's a start (thanks Sherie & you're welcome 🙂 is true)
You won't have to pay for a psych unless a clinical one which I pay not much more, dunno if I can say so I'll leave it. Under $50 extra but straight out Psych free. .

And if someone's a carer if I remember right can get another 5 I think it was but might have it wrong but there was more.

Hope to see you again to talk more and get some support that you have and release.

We care, you're not alone anymore
