G'day Friends
I have been chronically ill all my life and now I care for my Wife who had a brain tumour. My oldest son nearly died in the Pinery Fires and he and his Wife lost their farm and House. He is sick now with PTSD but doing really well. My Wife is doing well after her seizure, but me, I have fallen in a heap. I'm still going to work and being productive, but I'm shaking like a leaf on a tree in a storm. I am having reactions to my drugs and little sleep, but the worse thing is that I feel like rats are gnawing at my stomach. I am forcing myself to eat and drink because I lost 7 kg in a month. I know that this is just a glitch and that I will get better, but "What a Ride!!"
I haven't been out in my garden for two weeks and don't do any of my hobbies any more. Trying to do things bit by bit. Still do the house-work, but my aim is to be even more productive at work and also start to enjoy life again. At the moment I am sinking with just my nose above the water! (So there is still hope!)
Don't give up peoples, better days are ahead.
Back to work, I'm not paid to chat!!

Hi AlexB
Welcome to the forums
You have and are going through some very tough times. Just to let you know I have had long term chronic anxiety & depression for many years. That sinking feeling is very familiar to me...its dreadful
Can I ask, who is looking after you? Do you have anyone that you can vent too? You are doing so much for everyone in sad circumstances I dont blame you for falling in a heap.
There are many super kind people on the forums that can be here for you Alex. Are you seeing a doc/gp/therpist regularly?
It would be great if you could post back when convenient for you
My kind thoughts
Paul

Hi Alex,
Welcome to the forums.
You have had a lot to cope with, no wonder you are feeling exhausted and overwhelmed. Life's struggles + caring for someone in need do take their toll. It seems to me that depression may have set in. If you scroll down to the bottom of this page, you will find a depression checklist (in Facts). It will be a good indicator of what you are up against. Awareness of the facts is a good start towards improving quality of life and reclaiming peace of mind.
Losing 7 kg in a month is a concern, a sign that your well being requires attention. I'd suggest you talk to a GP about your present situation. Not only the physical side of it, but also your present state of mind. We all need a bit of help sometimes to see us through a rough patch. No need to struggle without support.
Please take good care of yourself. You are important. Not only because a lot rests on your shoulders but also because -while caring for others- our own needs easily become neglected. "Me time" can be difficult to squeeze in a busy schedule. It is nonetheless necessary to keep our balance.
Well done for making the brave decision to reach out and share your concerns. Venting feelings helps unload the overload. A wise thing to do when it all becomes too much.
Great to have you on board.
