I’m a 45 year old farmer who has been diagnosed with depression and anxiety for over 19 years riding the highs and lows with dry weather and drought. Think I have trouble with overthinking about things that shouldn’t matter and something i can’t control. Has anyone ever thought the same and what did you do for help

Dear Jack77~
I'd like to welcome you here to the Forum where I'm sure you would find others in the same position.
To worry over what has happened, about what might happen, and to do so in a sort of mental loop getting nowhere is similar to what I've experienced. This has been the result of my conditions, anxiety and depression too. Life was not good as a result.
If one could look at them from a distance once can see they make no sense and will make little difference, but one is stuck with them anyway.
I found I could not stop myself from doing this, in fact things were getting worse. Eventually I sought medical help. first with a GP and then a psychiatrist. I had therapy and medications and have since improved a lot.
If you are in a remote area and cannot get to medical facilities I'd suggest having a go at on-line help though the Mindspot Clinic, who are government backed and pretty good.
I would also suggest you get prepared to take action when overthinking starts again. I use a free smartphone app called Smiling Mind. This has a large number of exercises on it, each at a different level so as to cater for all sorts of people. It does take practice, but when used properly leaves on in a much calmer and less stressed state
Can I suggest you give this a try.
The other thing that realy helps is if you have someone whose judgment you really trust - I have my wife - and when I explain the problem very often can be given a different perspective to make the problem seem less
I do hope you feel like coming back and talking some more

Dear Jack77~
I would like to know how you get on. It's not always a fast process for some people, quick for others, but can make a real difference
My main mistake was going on far too long on my own and made matters worse in the meantime. Not only was my life plagued buy unwanted thoughts, insomnia and other problems but I became harder to treat due to the length of time, not impossible, just longer.
Hope you can find some assitance
