Hello, i'm new here
Hi,
I often feel depressed and worthless, but I am scared to talk about it to anyone. I am fine at school, but at home I am never very happy. I try to improve how I am living - diet, exercise, meditation. But every time I try I soon loose motivation. I also don't eat much, nothing but dinner. I'm not sure if that relates, but people always tell me I should eat more. I don't get much sleep, either. Only a few hours a night.
Anyways, I hope someone could give me a little insight and maybe I can make some friends I can talk to.

Hello Sam._P,
Welcome to the forums..
Im sorry your struggling so much with your feelings of depressions and worthlessness...
Well done with your diet, exercise and meditation...it’s very easy to loose motivation and the more we keep trying the easier it should get for you...
Eating 3 healthy meals a day does have a huge impact on our mental health, I spent nearly 6 weeks in hospital over Christmas and the new year and the main things they were teaching us is that our bodies need healthy food throughout the day to keep us healthy both body and mind..eating only one meal a day puts your body into starvation mode and that’s not good mentally or physically...if you try to eat even small amounts for breakfast and lunch as well as dinner I feel it will be very beneficial to both your mental health and physical health and will probably help you with your sleeping as well...
We have a sleep thread here that you might get some ideas to help you get to sleep...
I know it’s very hard to talk to anyone about our mental health, I’m wondering if you could sit down with your parents and tell them how your feeling..Im a grandmother now, if my children were struggling with their mental health and didn’t let me know I would have felt really bad...Im sure your parents would like to know how your struggling and then they can takes steps for you to get the treatment you might need to get back to wellness... If you do find it too difficult which I hope you don’t, because as a parents and most parents do love their children and only want what’s best for them...but if you find it too hard would you consider talking to your school health officer...
Talk here anytime you feel up it, lots of caring people will come and talk to you and offer you their insight...and friendship..Please be very gentle on you and take good care of you the best you can...looking forward to hearing back from you when you feel up to it...
Kind thoughts,
Grandy..
Kind

Hi Sam._.P
I too welcome you to the community here. Grandy has written a lovely reply to you with some great suggestions.
As you are at school, is there a school counsellor you could talk to if you find it difficult to talk to your parents. The counsellor may be able to advice how to discuss your situation with family.
Do you have an Aunt or Uncle you could talk to as well?
I agree with Grandy, eating regularly during the day is important. Can you think of something you might like to eat in the morning for breakfast? It doesn't have to be a huge meal, something healthy, even a smoothie would be beneficial.
Maybe you could write your achievements down in a book. Or write down what you would like to achieve for the day. Include activities that make you feel better about yourself and life.
There are days that we are more negative. My psychologist told me to realise that is okay. Not every day can have a score of 10 out of 10. On the not so good days, I accept that and try to move myself to making it the best I can at that moment.
Hope you can find someone there to talk to as well as communicating here.
Cheers from Dools

Thank you for your replies. I am still nervous about talking to someone but I would like too. I will try to eat more in the days to come, even if it is just a little bit. I think I can manage that, although sticking with my exercise and meditation might be a bit harder. I will have a look at the sleep thread, because I think it is quite bad for me now. I will have a look around the threads to maybe find some help telling my parents. I will try to set out achievements and goals for each day.
Again, Thank you

Hi Sam._.P,
I'm wondering if it might be easier for you to write a note to your parents and ask them to read it or even write something and ask your Mum to read it once you are at school.
You are certainly most welcome to continue to share and communicate here.
Regarding the diet, exercise, meditation, plans and goals, remind yourself that it is okay if things don't work well! That can be a part of life. You can try again the next day!
It can help to concentrate on one thing at the time. You might for example decide it is important to work on your diet for now and then introduce your meditation once you are more comfortable with your diet.
Trying to do everything at once can be overwhelming at times.
Wishing you well, from Dools
