Hey guys I’m Dylan,

ive been suffering with bipolar for the last 3 years. I have been on a number of different medications and they all seem to make it worse. I’m trying to deal with it without but some days are proving to be so difficult because I just end up sad all the time. I also have recently got a huge phobia of driving at certain times which sucks because I have a huge passion for cars.

I make a lot of impulse decisions hence my bank account is so negative.

I just need some help or guidance on what to do because I don’t want this year to be another struggle of making it through alive.

Thanks all.

Hello Dyllest, I'm sorry your thread has been missed but this can happen when the site is busy, but can I welcome you the forums.

With regards to your medication, I can't comment too much on that only to say that I tried so many different antidepressants (AD) before the doctor found the one that suited me which has definitely helped me.

I know that trying one after another is not only frustrating, annoying and does get quite boring, but once your doctor has prescribed the one that suits you, the change is unbelievable.

There are many different types of phobias for driving and that must be something you don't want, especially as you have a huge passion for cars and one way to try and overcome this is by using a technique called desensitisation, if you can copy and paste this in your search bar and find out whether it's something you could do by yourself or whether a psychologist is needed to help you.

A lot of us do impulse buying and when cars are involved, I'm up there with you, but unfortunately, it does empty out our bank accounts.

Ask your doctor to refer you to a psychiatrist, first of all, then they can monitor your medication and help with this anxiety you are struggling with, and also with your impulse buying which could be a habit coming from your anxiety, that I can't say as I'm not qualified, only a doctor or psych. can diagnose this.

Sometimes it’s easy to feel that we have to buy something that later on doesn’t suit our lifestyle but we may do so to compensate something that we can't actually do.

Hope to hear back from you.

Geoff.
