My life is falling appart

I suffer from rheumatoid arthritis. For the last 11 years I have not had a pain free day. My mother is 84 and dying of cancer and my dad has suddenly decided to abandon her care. My family is counting on me to take on the role of carer and I am not coping physically and mentally.

Hi Marg,

That sounds very uncomfortable, it would be nice if there was a magical cure for your rheumatoid arthritis.

It sounds as though your family are asking a lot from you. Are there any siblings that can help ease the pressure for you? Or if possible, would it be easier for yourself and your mum if she were moved to assisted living accommodation?

Dear Marg

Welcome to BB and for reaching out here. Sorry you have rheumatoid arthritis as I know that can be extremely painful and debilitating.

When my Mum was ill we had Aged Care come to visit her 3 times a week. Could you apply for those type of services to take the pressure off of you?

Take care Jojo
