Medication Induced Psychosis

DrugFree
Community Member

Hi

I was hoping to share my long experience of serious mental health issues, many of which were later found to be medication induced psychosis, misdiagnosed as other disorders, and mistreated

Is there a forum for these types of issues. My formal diagnoses at the time were bipolar and/or schizoaffective. They had a go at most but missed the real one

Dear new member~

I'd like to welcome you here to the forum and sympathise about misdiagnoses and the effects of certain medications.

While I quite agree that some medications will have unexpected effects - I had one (since withdrawn from the market) that made me dangerously overconfident and no regard for consequences.

I'm afraid one cannot be more specific than that about particular prescription drugs, there name, use and dosage are against Forum rules and not allowed. It is of course permissibly to say, as you have above, that oyu have been misdiagnosed.

So here you would have to talk more in generalities, which in itself may be useful to others.

Should you wish the be more specific, specificaly naming medications and their effects on you then you may have to write elswhere, I think the SANE forums may have more relaxed procedures, though I'm not sure.

Perhaps our own 24/7 help line may be able to point you in the right direction.

I hope your diagnosis and meds are now what you need

Hi thanks

So no specific information about treatments and side effects at all

Which forum can I discuss decades of misdiagnosis and istreatment please

I am very keen to be able to contribute my extensive knowledge to others who may be going through the hell I went through

There are a lot obstacles. Seemingly even in the Mental Health support and advocacy communities

Can you recommend a forum where such matters can be discussed openly

PS

I certainly don't need a mental health support line

Dear Drugfree~

I can quite understand what you would like to do which is why I mentioned the SANE forum, and only our own help line in case they had any further suggestions of forums.

Good luck, I think you will certainly find somewhere, I've not mentioned any social media as they tend not to be moderated
