Hi I’m 51 and have suffered depression for years .. on and off medication
recently infidelity issues have caused a breakdown in my marriage which reinforces the absolute hatred I have for myself
my wife has said it’s now or never for treatment and counselling
where do I start ?

Hello Dear Craig,
Im so sorry this is happening to you…it sounds like your wife is trying to help you towards mental wellness although it’s an ultimatum, I feel it’s better then not giving up on you…she sounds like she cares about you and is trying in her own way to save your marriage…
I don’t know how to say this, without it sounding harsh…but I’ll try….knowing you have depression is accepting it as well…once you accept it then it’s time to get the help you deserve, to help you get well again…I myself would suggest you start off by getting that help…the help that your wife so much wants you to get….Your wife could also join you in counselling if you felt okay with that…that would be entirely up to you…
Please Dear CraigC….try not to hate yourself, depression makes us hate ourselves…try to be kind to yourself and get the help that you so much need…
My kindest thoughts and care Dear CraigC.
Grandy..

Hello Craig..
If you can, then make a long appointment with your Dr. and talk honestly about how your feeling so depressed and been struggling for many years with it…your thoughts about your self hate…They can set up a mental health care plan for you which gives you 10 free counselling visits with a physiologist or counsellor….both are professional mental health workers…and can help you to possibly find the cause of your depression and give you tools to help manage it..
I do hope that you can set up an appointment with your Dr. and you get the help you deserve…
Thinking of you with kindness and care..
Grandy..
