Hi dcoy,
Welcome to the forum! I'm new here myself (joined about a week ago) and I really think you've come to the right place. I'm a fellow non-Australian living here abroad. It sounds like you might be having some trouble with your work/life balance. The people we work with and what we think of the wrk we do with them can be one of the most important ways we measure our happiness and how worthy and wanted we feel. Can you talk a bit more about what has changed recently that has made you feel this way?
Warmly,
Gems

Can you share a bit more about the nature of your work without revealing too much, if you feel comfortable? Just so I understand, are you currently jobless, or are you still doing the job you dislike? The feelings of boredom, fear, and nervousness that you describe are very common in the workplace, especially jobs that seem to offer little in the way of upward mobility or making use of our talents or skills.
In the meantime, have you considered speaking with a GP or a counselor, or perhaps even a close friend or coworker of similar status, about your concerns? You might find that some of your fellow workers share your feelings or concerns, and that just talking about these issues aloud can help you sort out your thoughts a bit.
Best,
Gems

That's so great that you're able to start opening up a bit to different people– just talking can lighten the burden so much. But as you said it doesn't get rid of that gross, physiological stress response– that takes time, practice, and patience. Congratulations on getting a job!
Lately I've been really into watching films (preparing for the Oscars lol), going to pub trivia twice a week, and swimming at the beach when the weather is nice. It's quite hot here which I find depresses my spirits a lot so mostly trying to stay in the aircon and get out when possible.
