Looking for support while caring for my disabled son

I don’t know which way to turn. I am so deep in slump and so sad I have no one no family. It’s just me and my severely disabled son. I just had to move and I live where I can’t afford I am hungry and lost and fed up and I just want to hide and sleep and not think or worry. I think I’m having a breakdown. I just want to live 1 day longer than my boy. He’s 25 and needs me but we have no life no joy no nothing. Can’t do lifeline because I can’t hear I’m deaf.

Hello JustJools, thanks so much for contacting the forums, and your comment is very distressing as we are very concerned for you and your son.

You can contact Lifeline on 0477 13 11 14 by text which is available from 6.00pm - 10.00pm it's a trial for people who are in a situation like you are in so I believe.

I'm sorry that I start very early in the morning and I really hope that other people can get back to you this afternoon.

I will check up on your thread first thing in the early hours tomorrow, and please know that all we want to do is help you and your son.

My best wishes for both of you and love to hear back from you.

Geoff.

Hi JustJools,

We are sorry that you are feeling so lost at the moment, it sounds like you are in a very overwhelming situation while caring for your son. Please know our community is here to support you and that we care about you and your son's wellbeing. We’d urge you to get in touch with one of the professional mental health counsellors at our Support Service to talk things through. You can contact us by phone using the National Relay Service : https://www.communications.gov.au/what-we-do/phone/services-people-disability/accesshub/national-rel...

As Geoff mentioned, Lifeline is also always available to talk through any difficult moments.  Although just to clarify, their online chat is currently available from 7pm-midnight (Sydney time).

We’d encourage you to check back in to let us know how you are going when you feel up to it.

Hi Just Jools ☺

Well done reaching out and talking to people. There are good people here that care and want to help and support you especially in your hard times

You'll always have here to talk darl.

Very best thoughts and wishes hun I'll be watching out to see how you get on when you're up to posting again

Honestly Jools how you're feeling now and the situation you're in this can change. Hold on sweety and keep doing what you're doing reaching out.
