Looking for a mens group in North Fremantle WA

My younger brother was recently diagnosed with depression although he is now being treated and is in a better space. In saying that, I was wondering if anyone knew of a blokes group near North Fremantle in WA (I know that's probably politically incorrect) where he can go and meet people that have and are going through similar issues. I'm even happy for anyone to provide websites that can point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance!

Hey pauliepaulie

Sorry to hear about your bro. It's great to see you care so much for him.

I must admit I giggled a bit at your comment about political incorrectness. I am a 24 yo guy and have depression and anxiety. I know for a fact there is an element of shame that can kick in when guys get diagnosed.

I think mens groups are probably a really good thing. I have never really thought of it as a therapy option but I think it may be good considering a lot of the male friendships I have are either average or not helpful for mental health.

I know of men's line but that's about it. I also know of some resources too that could help.

I would encourage you to let him know about forums too. This is a great way to get help but I do think having support in real life is just as important.

Hope what I said helps

Thanks for the heads up on men's line, one of his comments was he felt lonely even though we thought we were all there for him. I think its hard for people that don't have depression to truly connect with someone that is experiencing it. My thought's were if he could meet with people that are going through it, he might not feel so alone. Thanks for the info and i will keep looking for him. Cheers
