Hey thanks Paul! I'm so used to being the guy who helps or tries to solve everybody's problems. I appreciate your kind, welcoming words.
Ive had a bit of a rough trot over the last ten or so years, something you don't notice till you stop and look back on it.
Thanks for giving me a safe place to chat.

Hey Dave,
My name is Nick and a big welcome to the forums and thanks for sharing your situation with us. Like Paul mentioned above you should be extremely proud of posting. Sharing your situation takes an immense amount of courage and bravery and hats off to you mate. Feel free to post as much or as little as possible. You will find many users have been in similar situations as you so reading their posts may be greatly beneficial towards improving your situation 🙂 Just know this is a safe, caring and non-judgmental place where we all support each other with the objective of improving everybody's mental health and overall well-being.
Awesome name by the way! I am a huge metal head also!!! What are some of your favourite bands? I am a huge Maiden, Ozzy/Sabbath, Parkway Drive, At The Gates, Arch enemy fan just to name a few. Would love to know what genre of metal your into!
Look forward to seeing you around mate and have a great week.
All the best,
Nick.

Hello Dave, it takes courage to post on a site and now you have been able to achieve that, well done and great to meet you.
What's pleasing is that Paul and Nick have welcomed you, that's terrific.
Please feel comfortable talking to us, because all of us have been through our own type of depression and even now some people are still struggling with their depression, but are fortunate enough to help others who post in.
We don't criticise and we treat every post with care, so when you're ready it would be great to hear back from you.
Geoff.

G'day Nick! Thanks heap mate, there was alot of pride for me to swallow just to get this far. I'm the king of saying everything is fine. When you're 'the fix it guy' it's like it's not ok for you to need support.
But music and Heavy Metal in particular has been a powerful tool in keeping my feet on the ground. I love old school thrash metal! I find it's a massively positive way to spend negative energy both live and just listening. I've been fortunate enough to share the stage with kreator, Vader and overkill over the last couple of years. If I didn't have heavy metal I wouldn't have much.

Hey Heavy, I'm new here too, it's a big pool I have come to realise. There is alot of inspiring and helpful folk, lets run with it for a bit. I reckon it might get easier. Massive metal fan too, maybe more thrash and skate punk tilt. Slayer, Pennywise, TSOL and such, but love the classics Sab. and Maiden among them n' garage days blah blah could go on all day.
There are friends here, it is safe. Take care

Hey Heavy,
Metal was a great tool for me to cope with my issues too. No Way man! You must be one hell of a musician! That is amazing. My friends favourite band is Kreator. If I listen to thrash its old megadeth, slayer and Metallica. More into melodeath and metal core these days. Will you be going to Download?
Keep us posted and I would consider going to the GP and asking for a mental health plan and seeing a psychologist. Obviously, that isn't easy to do and this is a big step you have taken but I believe it will be extremely beneficial.
Please keep us posted mate!
All the best,
Nick.

Thank you so much mate! It's almost overwhelming. It's funny how you can get so used to being at the bottom, you almost find comfort in your depression. Like an old friend.
I really appreciate the opportunity to even just write these words and share them with anyone and no-one. It's pretty confronting if I'm honest.
I will be at download, I absolutely love Judas priest. Rob Halford is a pillar of strength in the heavy metal world.
Thanks again.
