Hi all,
I have chronic sleep deprivation and my anxiety escalates when I have more than a week of bad sleep! Currently I am over obsessing about someone breaking in to our house and stealing precious items that only mean things to myself and husband. Today it was that bad I didn't want to leave the house and come to work, but I managed to talk myself into going. It was suggested by a work colleague to start a blog on this site to help vent as just a talk with her this morning made me feel better! I was diagnosed with an underactive thyroid after the birth of my son some 13 years ago and my life has spiralled out of control pretty much ever since. Large amount of weight gain, lack of sleep and convinced I had a terminal illness everything some MINOR appeared. I read a few threads this morning and boy was I surprised, that's me, that's me, that's me! I have a wonderful Doctor who has helped me over the years! I have managed to lose 31 kilos in the last 2 years and have approximately 8 to go, something I am so so proud of as I have struggled forever!!!!! I put my success down to being asked to be a bridesmaid for my sister's wedding and having a wonder PT to get me going. Running is my saviour! I also obsess about dying and leaving my son behind, I often say a pray just let me stay until my son is an adult! I find I get back on track in time but I thank you for your time here today xx

Hi Tiredofthis,

Hi Tiredofthis,
I too welcome you to the community here. Pat has already had a chat with you. I too think it is amazing to read of how you have helped yourself so far. Excellent job with all of that weight loss! Wow. You may be able to start up a thread to help encourage people to loose weight by sharing how you have managed.
Has your Dr talked to you about cognitive therapy at all or how best to cope with your thoughts and emotions? If not then ask or Google Cognitive Therapy.
The main idea is to consider and reason out if your thoughts are real and valid or not.
When you are feeling stressed out, try and take some deep breaths and calm yourself, that helps some people.
Believe it or not, there is self help information available for people suffering from sleep disorders. Look up "Sleep Hygiene" and see if anything there helps you.
Thoughts of dying prematurely are probably very normal. I suppose people just don't talk about it much. As you have already noticed by checking out other posts, so many people have thoughts, emotions and mental health issues similar to someone else.
The more you read, the more you will discover other people's issues and also the ways people have offered help and suggestions.
Hope you find some solutions to the sleep problems. Like I mentioned, do some research and see what yu come up with. I find it helpful to write a list of things I think I need to do the next day, have a warm shower before I go to bed, read if I am not all that tired, and try to think of something to be thankful for from that day.
Cheers for now from Mrs. Dools

Thank you for the welcome. I have had a couple of sessions of hypnotheraphy to help with my anxiety and find this really helps. I am due for another next week.
Sleep is an ongoing issue for me and it's staying asleep that is the problem. My husband went away for the weekend a fortnight ago and of course I slept even worse than normal hence I'm over tired hence the anxious thoughts!
I would love to motivate anyone wanting to lose weight or anything else for that matter, just ask away
Thanks again everyone for the welcome and I will be sure to check out the website throughly 😀

Hi Tiredofthis,
Thanks for replying. I have never tried hypnotherapy. What is it like? As a Christian, in my younger years we were strongly told to keep away from treatments like hypnotherapy and even yoga was a huge NO NO due to the "Asian" influence and teachings behind it.
I really struggle with different kinds of treatments and activities because of what was drummed into me as a child and my ongoing Christian beliefs.
I will start up a thread about weight loss and healthy eating. Would you like to drop by there sometime and share your amazing story with us. Maybe a thread on SLEEP might be helpful for people as well.
At present I am totally stuffed up with sinus problems, so my sleep is being disrupted as well. I also have a chronic back problem which wakes me during the night. The main thing I find when I do wake, is to try hard not to let my brain wander to negative stuff.
Sorry you sleep less well when your husband is away. I actually sleep a lot better when my husband is away as he snores horribly. Even with ear plugs and a pillow over my head, he sounds like a freight train. Ha. Ha.
I'll create these new threads now, hopefully we may all gain insight into how to sleep better and loose some weight!
Cheers for now from Mrs. Dools
