G’day. I’m a 38yo male living in Melbourne with my partner and two daughters.
I have anxiety and depression but deal with it as best I can. Some days are better than others but I see it as something to do my best to manage but there is no magic cure. I am currently holding down a full time job and look at the positives in my life. I am fortunate to have good family support.
I have joined this forum to learn from, support and help others in their mental health issues. We can share ideas and strategies.
I hope to contribute positively to this forum!
Take care 🙂

Hi SapareAude,
Good on you for bravely reaching out 🙂
I’m very sorry about the late reply though. Sometimes we accidentally miss posts. But please know that it’s most definitely not a reflection on you or your post- it’s really just accidental. I hope you’re still reading along...
I know you have your struggles, and I realise anxiety and depression can be intense and overwhelming...
But I love how you have a beautiful support network around you in the form of your family. I imagine they make a world of difference 🙂
Congratulations on holding down a full-time job. I know doing that while also trying to manage our mental health, and other life demands/stressors, isn’t easy. Well done!
Is it okay if I ask how have you been doing since your opening post on this thread?
kindness and care,
Pepper

Dear SapereAude ~
I'd like to join Pepper in welcoming you here. I see you have already entered into the spirit of this forum by offering support to others, it shows something about yourself.
Having anxiety and depression can be very hard indeed, you have a family that supports you and a full-time job, how great!
It was partly due to the support of my partner I improved when in a very bad place, that plus competent medical care. May I ask if you have medical support too?
Over the years I've fond a lot that has helped, as have many others here, I'd suggest you have a glance over the threads

The first one is the best though they are both worth a look
I look forward to seeing you around

BTW I do like your chosen name, my favorite translation might be "Have courage to use your own reason"

Hi @Peppermintbach
Thanks very much for your reply. I’m doing pretty well thanks. Some days are tougher than others but I march on for my family as best I can. I try to remain positive. It’s nice to be able to reach out and support others too.
Take care 🙂

Hi Croix
Thanks for your reply. Thanks for your links. I will definitely check them out. Unfortunately cost is a big factor for me but I have a new mental health plan for a psychologist which I will be starting soon. Hopefully we can make further improvement. I think helping others and being able to (somewhat) relate to their struggles also helps me in overcoming mine. We can all bounce off each other and help make the world a better place. 🙂
Take care.

Dear SapereAude~
You are right, being with and helping others who have similar problems has a huge effect, for me it turned a long-term disability into an asset, giving me a sense of pride and accomplishment, plus hopefully assisting a few along the way. It is also a two-way street, gaining from others and their excrescences.
I hope to see your posts in the future

Thanks again Croix,
It is a difficult time for everyone at the moment, especially those with mental health issues. I encourage you all to continue to support one another, look at the things you can control and look for the moon and stars in the night sky, rather than pitch black darkness. Use the opportunity to learn something new. We are all in this together. Teamwork globally and on this forum will get us through. Be kind to one another and take care!
