Hi
I have just been diagnosed as having severe anxiety. Just thought I would join in here so I can have people to talk to who have been going through similar issues.

Hi MermaidGirl
Welcome to the forums and good on you for posting too!
Thats a pain of a diagnosis to get. I take it that you are getting all those awful feelings that anxiety brings with it.
I had acute anxiety for 13 years when I was 23 and it is a bad place to be in. The good news is the severity of the anxiety does decrease over time with regular counselling (and anti anxiety meds if your GP suggests them)
I was a jerk at 23 and dint get any help which resulted in the anxiety getting worse. I was physically fit at the time and eating well so that didnt really help reduce the anxiety. Frequent counselling worked a treat.
Having anxiety is like having invisable crutches....
This is a judgemental free zone mermaidgirl and the forums are rock solid secure for your privacy. There are also many kind people that can be here for you even if you just want a chat or have a bad day too 🙂
my kindest thoughts for you
Paul

Hey mermaidgirl, great to have you in the forums and well done for having the thought to join up. As Paul says above, it is completely judgement free and you among a community that is super supportive and will help guide you through you recovery and getting the anxiety beast under control.
I have PTSD, depression and anxiety and the one thing i use the most to control the anxiety is mindfulness. Don't know if you know of it but if you don't, i would well recommend getting onto it. I use the app "Smiling Mind" pretty much every day in the morning and just settles me nicely. Deep breathing exercises are also well worth while.
One in three females will have some kind of anxiety disorder over their lifetimes so it is fair to say that you are not alone in your journey at all.
Again, great to have you here and look forward to seeing your posts.
Cheers
Mark.
