Just wanted to say hi

This is the first time I have ever posted on ANYTHING. I thought that I should start speaking with others instead of hiding in my shell. I've been battling with depression for 20 years now, just trying to keep my head above water. Learnt a lot in that time and would love, not only to receive support, but to support others in any way I can. Maybe then we all could feel a little less alone.

Hello Froggy-Jane,

Welcome to the forum, and thanks for your post!

Twenty years is a long road, but it sounds as though you are determined to persevere. I've lived with OCD/anxiety for 10 years now, and I am also persevering. I'm glad you've learned a lot. If you don't mind me asking, have you received professional help for the depression? Do you currently have support?

Here is an online resource on depression that may be useful to keep on hand as a reference:

It would be great to hear back from you.

Best wishes,

Zeal

Hi Froggy-Jane, and welcome to the Forums. I've only been a member myself for just on two weeks now, so still only a relative newby too. I must admit that it was your profile picture which drew me to this new thread of yours. The cute little frog. I really like frogs, and also lizards.

I too battle Depression but also suffer from severe Anxiety. Both for about 4 years now. And like you, I came on here in order to find some welcome support and understanding, but also to give something back.

You've made a good choice to post here Froggy, as I know you will find here that you are never alone in your battles. I know how easy it is to withdraw into our shells when depression grips us. But it is very important to make an effort to peek out occasionally. Eventually I hope those tentative 'peeks' become more confident and more frequent.

Great to meet you.

I was only 14 when depression took over my life. I've seen psychologists and psychiatrist ever since, along with many hospital admission. I've been seeing my psychiatrist for 9 years now, I don't think I would be talking to u now if it wasn't for him. I still go in to hospital a couple of times a year but I have improved so much over that time. I guess you could say that I am a work in progress.
