Following a number of mini strokes I am depressed. My gait has been affected (limping), I have poor balance, impaired memory and comprehension. I am about to turn 75 and feel as though I have wasted my life.

75 years of life here with us mate is not a waste of life! Even if you only did one thing for another human being you have done your job. I'm no expert in this field or anything for that matter but I've made a post here myself and I'm also seeing how other people are coping with the difficulties of life. Obviously theres more good than bad and I'm sure you have done many great things. We are all here for a reason no matter how big or small. I don't know what else to say really other than please hold on in there. Do you have any hobbies? Or family or friends?

Hi Friendly Ghost,

I just wanted to add my welcome to Barnsy's great post.

I get where you're at with things. Sometimes we hit these points in our life where we take stock and don't feel we've measured up. But inevitably we are our own harshest critic and I'd love to encourage you to be generous to yourself. I'm in the process of writing my own next chapter.. Limpy gait and all. And I've decided to subscribe to the idea that what I do next is more important to what I've done before.

Anyway, good on you for reaching out and posting here. This place is full of friendly folk who can relate and I think sharing our journeys with others is of value. Hope to catch you around some more.

Bill.

Thanks for your advice Barnsby78. No family, no real friends and no hobbies are my issues. I am working on it. Thanks again.
