Hey there,
My name is Kate, I'm 23 years old and I have Bipolar. I'm really new to this whole forum thing, I don't know how it works or if I'm even writing my first post (I think I am.) Is there any other Bipolar sufferers that want to share their stories and tips out there with me?
I've had a bit of a rough time lately. I even got sent home from work today because I'm not coping very well. It makes it harder and frustrating because I absolutely adore my job. I don't know why I've joined this. I guess I'm feeling like my friends and family either don't understand or are tired of hearing about my issues. I just need someone to talk to that I guess understands where I'm coming from.
Hope to hear from you, whoever you are, soon! X

Hey Kate,
Welcome! I'm glad you ended up posting on here, it sounds like you've been starting to feel very alone. You're definitely not alone here.
I don't suffer from Bipolar, though I can understand the difficulties. I have had a manic attack twice and it was really really scary!
Adoring your job makes a lot of things so easy, hopefully your boss is equally adored and also is very kind and understands that you have an illness and sometimes need the space.
There are some awesome articles on the Beyond Blue website about helping family understand and how to have a conversation with them. From the menus at the top of the page, "Get support" then "Have the conversation". This might be a good place to start. Of course there will be other people on the forums who have bipolar as well and can offer support too!
Do you feel comfortable telling us a bit more about when you were diagnosed and some of the things that are difficult for you?
Take care.
Paul

Hey katemarea,
Welcome to the Beyondblue forums!! Thankyou for your post and for reaching out it's great!!
I myself don't suffer from Bipolar, but there are so many other people out there that do and i'm sure once they see this post that they will reply and want to talk. Even though i don't have experience this myself i am more than happy to talk about it with you, i am happy to listen to what you need to get out.
It's great to here that you adore your job to me there is nothing better than loving your job i find that if you find a job that you love then you never have to work a day in your life, but it isn't good that you are being sent home early because you are not coping i know that feeling all to well and i don't want that for you.
If you would like to share about what's going on for you i am willing to listen and to give any helpful advice and support i can ? but if not that is also completely fine 🙂
Stay strong! and looking forward to hearing from you!!

Hi Kate, welcome to the forums.
We have a number of threads here on bipolar, the best way to link up with other members in similar situations is to have a read through what's been posted first and join in the conversation. We had a new member only a few days ago post in this section asking about bipolar - their thread is at the top of the list below:
Bipolar type 2 depression questions
Bipolar type 2 and anger management
Bipolar and have 3 kids with mental illness
Recent diagnosis of borderline bipolar

Hi, I’m new to this site, I’m 54 and was diagnosed with bipolar 1 schizo affective disorder at 30 I was in hospital with bad depression and ptsd, I can’t work. So am finding this Coronavirus hard. I’m under self isolation under doctor orders as have a very low immune system as I suffered from cancer a few years back. My partner is a nurse so she is worried about catching it and bringing it home to me. My DVD player has been running hot and my phone calling family, friends and playing candy crush.
I draw and also am back into adult colouring books and thinking of buying some watercolour paints and teaching myself to paint.
I started a course with a support worker to take me but it has been cancelled due to this virus my bipolar. My bipolar had already isolated me to the home. I’m lucky though as I have a therapy dog with a walker provided by Ndis but am unsure if this will continue as well as home care. I have a number of acute disabilities suffering acute pain. I regularly have week long hospital visits for ketamine infusions and cortal injections in my spine. Without these it is hard to get around as the cortal is surgery and elective this is now not happening at the moment. I’ve become very depressed, sorry for all the doom and gloom. I guess I’m struggling I have a phone appointment with my psychiatrist this week my gp is also not seeing people now it’s also on the phone so I’ve lost all my outlets to leave the home. Just feeling isolated like I’m sure most of you out there are. Try and keep smiling.
