Schema therapy

I'm about to undertake schema therapy and feeling rather anxious about it.

I have DID, CPTSD, and EUPD.

I was wondering if anyone has undergone this model of therapy and what they felt about it.

I would love any suggestion or advice.

Thanks

Hello Centaured

I am sorry I can't answer your question. I've not had this particular form of therapy.

I can only suggest that you talk with whoever it was who has referred you to the therapist doing this therapy, or wait to talk to the therapist themselves & talk to them about what the therapy is & what it involves,& any other questions you have.

Even as you talk & listen to their answers you may have more questions. Ask as many as you need before agreeing to go ahead with it.

You may need to see the therapist a few times to find out if how they treat you feels comfortable & right for you. If they allow you to take things at your own pace, I think that could be a good sign.

If they try to push you to accept before you feel comfortable, then I'd think that the issue may be the way the therapy is, i.e., the therapist is supposed to prod & actively delve for deeper responses, or the therapist is not reading your readiness to move forward with using this therapy.

I hope this helps.
