Hey,
I have just started medication for depression, low dose first week, then up the dose week after.
I have only just been diagnosed and have never taken medication of this type ever.
I have found I am practically useless, I could sleep all the time ( I have a family , work etc )my body and head are so heavy that I feel just standing takes the most effort. I fall asleep at work all the time for no reason. Feeling nauseas and very light headed most of the day.
I feel like I am not aware and on another planet right now...im wondering if it gets better? because I can not function in this state much longer.
Any advise very much appreciated
Just Lost.

Hi Just Lost,
I took my first AD's a few months ago and I was much the same. The side effects were at there worst at about 2 weeks but after that they started to get better My sleep was closer to normal after about 4 weeks and I was feeling almost back to normal at about 6 weeks. So please don't despair those side effects wont last forever, I found that each day I would be sleeping less and less until I felt better. Maybe it would be worth taking a few days off work whilst you wait out the worst of the symptoms? Remember to eat good food or you will feel worse, also I started leaving my blinds open so that the sun would help me to wake up and I always felt better when I had been for a short stroll.
I would love to hear back from you.

dear Just Lost, what Flower_Girl has posted back to you is spot on, and because it's your first time on them means that your body has to now adjust, but these side-effects will slowly disappear, however after say 6 weeks if you still have them then I would suggest you go back to your doctor.
He/she may decide to drop the dose back to the low dose, see how you go, and would be interested to know how it goes. Geoff.

Hi Guys,
Well I have had a rough week...ended up having to stop the meds as it got to the point I could not drive, eat, function in daily life etc.
I have now a couple of weeks reprieve to get it out of my system and then go back to square one and try to find something my body will work with.
I must admit I am very apprehensive to try again as the whole experience was very frightening but I know its the best thing if I can get on top of this.
Will keep you posted.
have a great and wonderful day
