How do you find the right services?

Hello All, I'm hoping someone can give me a little guidance. I find it really hard to know who to contact for support when I'm struggling with mental health issues. Some places only help with certain issues & some cost a fortune. I'm only resorting to the internet now because of frustration, I need someone I can call or visit. I always seem to end up calling 6 numbers and giving up because none of them is the service I need. What are your tips for finding the help that you need?

Thanks for your support

Hello Sarah, what sort of help do you feel you need right now?

Hi Jess, I think I need to talk to someone about my anxiety and some family issues. I've had other mental health challenges in the past and always found it difficult to know who to speak to. I've used my workplace counseling service in the past but I'm unemployed at the moment.

It sounds like you need some counselling time, but perhaps are worried about the cost? If you've been diagnosed with anxiety, your GP should be able to help you with a referral to a psychologist for ten low-cost sessions. Your GP might also know a psychologist who bulk bills, try asking for this and explain your financial situation.

There's a lot of good discussions here on these forums about anxiety and family issues, so you might even find some advice here if you'd like to talk further too.

Thanks for your advice Jess, I'll look into those options.
