Hi beety, welcome
We arent qualified to recommend meds etc however...I tried 12 AD's before I found the right ine. Considering you fo have to wean yourself off and wait until the next one comes into effect, that can take a while.
Here are some threads that might help. The big isdue is his mindset. Sometimes it cant be changed.

From what you say I presume that the AD wasn't doing much to help him and he needs to know how to wean himself off them and not do it without consultation because at the best of times it's not pleasant.
People have to be lucky if the first AD works for them and for me I tried many before the one that suits me, it can be an annoying process but when you can find one that helps you it makes a world of difference.
What may happen is that it will make him

Hello Beety
TonyWK and Geoff have a lot of experience where medication is concerned and great advice which I wont repeat all over again.
Just in my own crisis situation I went straight to my (two) GP's and asked them for assistance and they recommended an increase in my AD's and an anti anxiety med that gave me my life back.
In a nutshell the meds provided me with a solid platform on which I heal more effectively using all the coping techniques that are available. Its more of a holistic approach whether its general anxiety/depression or a crisis situation.
I really hope your partner does seek and engage with the health professionals that can provide him with some peace. Yes it takes determination and time but your partner has everything to gain and nothing to lose by doing so
My kind thoughts for you and your partner Beety
Paul
