Are psychologists able to refer you to a psychiatrist?

Recently i have had my schedule open up more (despite my boss' efforts to prevent this). I feel i may be ready to seek help but i know a psychologist is not going to cut it as i have had experience with this in the past and i gained very little over an extensive amount of time. With that being said i would much rather talk to a psychologist about what i am feeling rather than a GP.

Hello Waters

Usually the referral to a psychiatrist is done through your GP.

I hope you do well with whoever you choose to see

Thanks for being on the forums too

My kind thoughts

Hi waters1999,

Thank you for your post. Yes - while a GP usually does the referral a psychologist can do one too.

Hi Waters, you need your doctor to refer you onto a psychiatrist as has been said.

Geoff.
