Hi Doctor who_aspy,
I feel that a panic attack followed by depression sounds debilitating , especially if it has been for such a long time.
Great question although I must admit that I don’t know any treatment options for panic attacks that are specifically followed by depression. I’m really sorry...
Maybe someone else reading will know more about this...I hope so....
Kind and caring thoughts,
Pepper

Hi Doctor who_aspy,
Thanks for your post.
Hm, this is a good question. My first thoughts are CBT too, although that in itself is quite broad as you can have ten psychologists and they all do it so differently. Have you seen more than one psychologist who specialises in CBT?
I'm also wondering too if you've talked about how you're feeling with your counsellor/psychologist? If you're not feeling like you're moving forward or gaining things from the therapy, let them know. The sessions are about you so if it's not working it's time to switch things up.
The other treatment options that come to mind are -
- Mindfulness based therapies
- Psychotherapy or interpersonal therapy (talk therapy)
- ACT therapy. This stands for acceptance and commitment therapy. The idea behind it is that instead of trying to push everything negative away (which is what we naturally want to do) we try to find ways to just accept things as they are while still moving towards our own values and goals.
