So, I was diagnosed with Adjustment disorder three years ago based on a stressor that
I don't know why my diagnosis hasn't changed and I don't know how to bring it up with my Doctor.
Just looking for advice and some solid facts about the disorder, need to know if I'm not understanding something correctly.

Hi Ace_Of_Spades,
Good on you for reaching out here. Sorry, I admittedly know next to nothing about Adjustment disorder. But I hear your confusion and frustration. Understandably, you have a lot of questions...
I get what you’re saying about how it can be nerve racking to ask your doctor questions. So can I maybe suggest sending him or her an email instead to ask for clarification? It’s just that sometimes asking in written form is a little easier than face-to-face. So maybe this is something you might like to consider.
Hopefully the other lovely people here who have more knowledge than me about adjustment disorder will respond with their insight and personal knowledge.
Kind and caring thoughts,
Pepper

Hi Pepper,
Thanks, to be honest emailing him had not occurred to me but it does seem less stressful. Thank you for the advice!
Ace 🙂

Hello Ace Of Spades, I hope you can get some clarity out of the email with your doctor. I don't know much about adjustment disorder, but I do see a lot of posts from people who feel a lot of stress from the labels they get given. I often wonder how much this helps, ideally it should be of some help and comfort to you in working out what kind of treatment you need. If it leaves you more confused, then I don't know how helpful this is.
It's a bit like going to the mechanic with something wrong with your car, and they list off all the parts they have to fix. But at the end of the day, all you want to know is, can I still drive my car?
I would have a discussion with your doctor next time and be honest about how the diagnosis is making you feel. Perhaps ask about what it practically means for you, and have a think about what your goals might be to move forward.
