I am looking for suggestions on how to deal with a situation where you get a message like "I can't take it anymore. Thanks for your help. Goodbye." I am not blaming myself in any way, because they didn't give me time to provide real help (I am a certified Mental Health First Aider).

Hi again Trans22,
It really depends in the context of the message. It could be taken from a reader like myself, a threat of suicide from events/communication leading up to it. Or it could be (goodbye) meaning they are leaving the relationship and many others in between.
If in terms of any threat of suicide we must never dismiss it as a bluff, they mostly are a plea of desperation. Whether they go ahead or not is not the point.
I'm afraid I cant answer it further as it has too much information missing leading up to the comment.
I hope you are well

Thank you TonyWK.
There wasn't a direct threat of suicide. I probably just misinterpreted the "I can't take it any more" - the idea they just aren't ready to talk about things sounds very plausible. Hopefully they'll reach out to someone when they are ready to talk.
