Is non melancholic depression a true thing? They say caused by external stressors (like a severe lack of sleep or work pressure) and that often the depression will go away when the stress goes away. That this is the most popular form of depression?

Im joping its true and that fixing my partners insomnia will help fix his depression... wishful thinking????

Any ideas?

dear Livinginhope, hello and great to be able to talk to you.

Non melancholic depression is the most common type of depression, as stated by the Black Dog Institute, and they go on saying that 90% of those with depression have this, but for it to go away when all the stress issues are solved, might be true or maybe not.

Having stress will include so many other problems, such as social anxiety or not wanting to leave the house, and the list could keep going on, and just by stopping his stress doesn't necessarily mean that his depression will go away, and I'm sorry to say this, as you were hoping for a positive answer, however he maybe lucky and it does.

No one can predict any results when they have depression. Geoff.
