This is "Living With A Black Dog", a short video for loved ones of people experiencing depression. It gives you tips on what to do, what not to do, and how to survive and thrive through the journey of recovery together.
What's your favourite tip from the video?
Thanks to the Black Dog Institute for sharing this clip.

Thank you for this - one of the better clips I have seen on MI.
My favourite clip is the one for caregivers. They often tend to overlook the risks to their own health.

Thanks Chris - this really moved me.
I am going to buy myself a beautiful decorated box and put all my little tools of coping skills in there - photos of my children, my dog, the beach where I live, positive affirmations etc.
This will help me when I am feeling depressed.

dear Christopher, I have only watched less than a minute, but it's 1.00 pm and about to log-off, but boy oh boy, how much of these few seconds is so much I can relate to, especially all the 'we'll do this for him/her to cheer her up, let's have a party, or perhaps a surprise party, this is sure to make them better', or could it be 'I'll give them some sex that's absolutely a great way to make them happy' and if it does happen then the big statement, now you must be cured', which happened with me but it's all wrong, it only makes you worse, because it only means that they have no idea of what depression is.
A recent discussion with my ex said 'I know what depression is like, because I had it', yes she did, but has now she has lost the thoughts of how I was trying to cope and the depression I had back then.
Will continue tomorrow. Thanks Geoff.

Hi Chris,
Although all the tips seem helpful I think my favorite one is the last "always hold on to hope". It is can seem impossible to do what may be hard but necessary today if you have no hopeful vision of the future.
Thanks for sharing this.
Pixie.

Thanks Chris
That is a great video. I watched it twice, just to make sure I didn't miss anything. I think I like the idea of the 'Ditch the Black Dog' box the most.
Thanks again for sharing.
