dear Joey, depression always seems to affect the rest of the family, spouse or partner, plus if any 'friends' stick by you.
You need to see your doctor a.s.a.p because if you don't do it now, the further his depression goes it will affect you.
You can't avoid not doing this, and you can't overcome by yourself, especially as he is suffering so badly.
The longer you leave it the worse you will become.
There are 10 free psych. visits per year, so please take advantage of this, and let us know how you get on. L Geoff. x

It is the hardest thing in the world to watch the person you love go through depression, I was 18 when my dad began to suffer from anxiety and depression, and then last year at 33 I was diagnosed with anxiety and mild depression myself. It is important that you look after yourself and your own health in order to support him, mental illness is one of the hardest things to understand and can be a very stressful time for all involved. It is important that you have someone to share your stress with, the old saying that a problem shared is a problem halved could not be more true when it comes to mental illness, whether you speak to a friend or a professional is up to you.
