Any support groups in Vic?

I've posted on this forum a couple of times but don't seem to get much feedback. I am feeling increasingly isolated and in despair in my relationship with my partner of nearly 6 years who has depression. I wish I could find someone who can relate to me, but I haven't yet. Does anyone know if there are support groups in Victoria that are for people supporting others through their mental health struggles? In person is preferable. I'm regional Vic which makes a bit tricky, but I'm getting a little desperate. Life is pretty tough right now.

Hello Squishy, before I reply again, if you can type this in your search bar 'Any support groups in Vic' there may be someone who you could contact, but I will get back to you.

Hello Squishy, I'm sorry you are caught in this position and know that it does make it difficult to know what to do and even if you know, it may not be something your partner wants to proceed with.
You can see your doctor who can put you on a 'mental health plan' which entitles you to 20 Medicare sessions, however what you discuss with them, again may not suit your partner, but perhaps you could suggest them to see their doctor and may be the mental health may also be suggested.
It's a very difficult job what you are trying to accomplish, because they could just disagree with you.
Please stay in touch with us.

Thank you Geoff. I do have a psych through Open Arms but I don't find the sessions that useful. I will keep trying to find what I'm looking for.

Hi Squishy
I’m really sorry that you haven’t had the responses you were seeking in your earlier posts. Hopefully Geoff and I (and others) can improve your sense of support from this community this time around.
I also support and care for a loved one with a mental health condition (my adult daughter who experiences OCD and anxiety for over a decade). It’s not easy, I know.
I can really empathise with your feelings of despair in your relationship and your sense of isolation. It’s hard to talk about this type of experience with people who don’t understand and unless you’ve been through it I think it’s impossible to really understand. I’ve found it to be a roller coaster ride of incredible highs and lows, which often leave me utterly exhausted.
I have never sought a support group of the type you’re looking for, but suggest you look into Carers Victoria. It’s an organisation set up to support people who care for someone with a mental health condition. They may be able to help you or point you in the right direction.
I really want to encourage you to make the time to look after yourself. I take half an hour a day—everyday—just for me. I do things I enjoy to nurture my soul and bring joy to help balance out the rest.
I also exercise daily because it really improves my mood. And I participate here, as being part of this community helps me feel less alone.
Happy to talk more and offer you support, if you think it could help.
Kind thoughts to you
