Thank you for reaching out and exploring options for yourself. It sounds like you are in a dark place at the moment and are looking for a place of respite to gather your strength again. A voluntary admission to a facility may be this respite you need.
In terms of admission to hospital or a mental health facility, the first point of contact would be through your treating doctor, GP, psychiatrist or psychologist to discuss what the best options are in your area and what sort of timeline you are interested in for a voluntary admission.
If you feel you may act upon your thoughts, or you are unsafe, please call 000 or present to your nearest emergency department. Most major hospitals have psychiatric facilities and may admit you from the community through your presentation to emergency.
We will be reaching out to you privately to see how we can support you further through this.
If you feel like it, please keep us updated on this thread as to how you are travelling.

Hi Britishinaus,
Im sorry you are feeling this way.
Would you like to tell us more about the way you are feeling?
As Sophie has said you could speak to your gp to discuss your options.

Hello Britishinaus, I'm really sorry you are feeling like this and there are a couple of ways which have been mentioned already, ask your doctor that you are scared for yourself and feel you might do something to yourself, they will then admit you to a hospital for your own protection or you could call 000 and say you fear for yourself, the police may say to contact your doctor but if this is not possible they will also take you to hospital again, for your safekeeping.
I have only reinforced what Sophie has said.
Please take care.
Geoff.

Hi Britishinaus
I have admitted myself twice voluntarily. The first time did not go as I had expected and I left. It got chaotic after that and I went back. It ended up being a good thing. They got me on the right path. Adjusted my meds. Talked to me a hours of the day and night. Treated me like I matter, that I was a person who counted in this world and when I left I was physically and mentally ready.
I look back on that time when I am spiralling and I am pretty sure I would do it again.
for your benefit it would help get you on the right path. Good luck

Hi Britishnuaus
I've stayed in hospital and received psychiatric care before.
Re how long can one be strong for...when I was considering admission someone told me they thought going to hospital was a sign of strength
I'd go to hospital again. I would also contact the catt team again if I needed to. My opinion is to keep an open mind to hospital, and not close it as a option.
I see many ppl who think the worst thing that could happen to them is going to a psychiatric hospital,
And so, they avoid thay path, while struggling in a cyclical way. Getting help from a hospital is nothing to be ashamed of, and can be just the thing. It is up to each person, but I think closings oneself off to it entirely as a possibility isn't always wise....
I'm glad I went, and it did assist my recovery

Sadly, not all GPs are great assisting with admissions. Many young ppl do jt have a regular gp or someone to facilitate admissions,
A community health centre, or a gp experienced in mh is always a good idea, but I think it's risky to set up an expectation that a go can facilitate admission, the system struggles with MH, and it may, unfortunately require a lot more than a gp visit. Happy to answer any qs
