Words of comfort, encouragement and wisdom

To all the beautiful people 🌞

Words placed in a particular order can have a profound effect on us.

Words can bring us a moment of comfort, give us a different perspective, or change the course of our thinking and outlook entirely.

I would like this to be a space where we share quotes that have meaning to us or that have the potential to bring some comfort or encouragement to somebody, even if just for the moment in which they are reading it.

I will start.

Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, "I will try again tomorrow." - Mary Anne Radmacher

Go gently with yourselves lovely people.

Dear PamelaR

I love that poem by Emily Dickinson, and this time you beat me to it ... good minds ...

Dear MusicFreak,

I think your tearful response is perfectly natural ... depending on what emotions are running at the time, when you read/hear hopeful, uplifting, encouraging things, tears can fall. It's ok!

There's absolutely nothing wrong with you. Whatever reaction or response you have, that is OK.

You are OK.

You are enough ❤

If I can stop one heart from breaking,
I shall not live in vain;

If I can ease one life the aching,
Or cool one pain,

Or help one fainting robin
Unto his nest again,

I shall not live in vain.

Let me hold the door for you.

I may have never walked

A mile in your shoes,

But I can see that

Your soles are worn

And your strength is torn

Under the weight of a story

I have never lived before.

So let me hold the door for you.

After all you've walked through,

It's the least I can do.

By Morgan Harper Nichols

Love these last two...can relate to them.

Thank you for posting Birdy & Pamela

Hi Birdy

Sorry about the shingles. It's damn painful. Hope you were able to get the injection to help reduce the severity of pain.

Would love to see you on my deck this coming Friday for cocktails and star gazing. Music Freak, if you're not busy, did you want to come along too?

My offering for today:

To protect your energy...

It's okay

  • to cancel a commitment
  • to not answer a call
  • to change your mind
  • to want to be alone
  • to take a day off
  • to do nothing
  • to speak up
  • to let go.

Live by the sun. Love by the moon.

Thank you PamelaR so much for that lovely reminder that it's ok ... i will use that like a permission slip. Beautiful protection of energy.

For sure, I am already taking orders for cocktails in preparation ... what's yours Music?

Ok here is something from Maya Angelou. I shared it recently on Karen's (Grandy's) thread as it was something i wish for her, and here it is for everybody:

My wish for you

is that you continue.

Continue to be who

and how you are,

to astonish a mean

world with your

acts of kindness.

Continue to allow

humour to lighten

the burden of your tender heart.

Hey Birdy (love your name ☺) and everyone

Read part of a book that wasnt holding me but gained something valuable from it

In life we need 3 things

  • Something to do
  • Something to work towards
  • Something to love

Love it and she didnt say someone to love, although most of us but not all need people I felt she was very wise with those words.

Yes I've heard of Maya Angelou shes a good and wise lady.

Dear Deebs 😙

Thank you for posting those three things.

When we're at our lowest, everything can seem too hard, but those three things you posted could be made into the simplest elements as you bring it into the everyday moments of life ... even if for example:

something to do might be to make a cuppa;

something to work towards might be to take a shower;

something to love might be the smell of rain after a hot day.

When we're feeling well, those three things (something to do, work towards, love) can take on much bigger meanings, if we want them to.

I feel like i will keep my three things small today.

Thank you Deebs.

Today - by Mary Oliver

Today I’m flying low and I’m
not saying a word.
I’m letting all the voodoos of ambition sleep.

The world goes on as it must,
the bees in the garden rumbling a little,
the fish leaping, the gnats getting eaten.
And so forth.

But I’m taking the day off.
Quiet as a feather.
I hardly move though really I’m travelling
a terrific distance.

Stillness. One of the doors
into the temple.
