We can do it BBers, we can do self-care.

Sleepy21 pointed out research that shows self-care REALLY helps!

Please share what you do for self-care so we can get inspiration, ideas and motivation to do it too.

Best wishes

GreenEgg, well done for telling someone you’re really struggling. It’s not always easy to reach out for support when vulnerable, so it’s great you did and received support. A cup of tea and a puzzle sound like wonderful self-cares.

For me today:

1. Went to an event with a friend. It was really good for me to get out and be amongst people.

2. Watched The Dog House Australia - one of the nicest shows on TV. The people who help match the rescue dogs up with potential owners are so lovely.

3. Watched colourful parrots eating various things in my garden. It’s so nice to have them. They have so much character.

Oooh, I feel like I've seen ads for the Dog House on TV. It sounds like a refreshing show.

My self-care:

  1. Did my full haircare routine and my curls are really defined and bouncy.
  2. Cleaned up my bedroom.
  3. Made myself a sandwich 🙂

Today,

1. I slept in late, (10-10:30am), & it felt good. I have been very tired again, so I was glad, not even a single moment of guilt about it.

2. Doing some more research today, but being careful to take breaks, & to use a lubricating/cleansing eyedrop when my eyes were becoming irritated anyway.

3. Instead of ignoring that I hadn't thought to shower earlier, I had my shower tonight, around 9:30pm.

& for an extra bonus, I want to go to bed very soon now, before my legs hurt as much as I know they can if I was to push on even for another half hour. I remembered to do my evening meds already, too. Doing them an hour before bed is actually better than I usually do.

Goodnight, everyone.

Hi All, really nice to read of all your self-cares.

SB, there is both an Australian and UK version of the Dog House. It gives you insight into the people seeking to adopt a dog as well, what their life struggles have been and what they hope to both give and get from adopting a dog. And of course you get to know the dog personalities too.

For me today:

1. Did volunteer work this morning and got through quite a lot.

2. Did gardening this afternoon. This involved pulling out weeds and plants from a substantial section of garden bed where I am going to replant with local species. I cleared about two thirds and filled up my green bin. I felt tired early on but found my stamina grew as I continued. I had a sense of achievement.

3. Listened to an interesting podcast while making dinner.

I volunteered at local shop

i chatted to a friend who gets me

i ate a mandarin

Yeah, sure is lovely catching up with what people are doing - all the great care & supportive ways you recognise & appreciate for doing for yourselves.

Today:

Some more research,

Which led to making a phone call, an appointment, & advising my support worker (for Thursday)

& then I had some 'office work' to do & collect several documents & put them in order.

I'm pleased to get these things done today, while, all the while, feeling tired enough to think I could snooze all afternoon instead. I did try to sleep more this morning, but could not.

There's some things I didn't do today - but I'm having a go at recognising what I have done instead of dwelling on what I didn't do.
