We can do it BBers, we can do self-care.
Sleepy21 pointed out research that shows self-care REALLY helps!
Please share what you do for self-care so we can get inspiration, ideas and motivation to do it too.
Best wishes
EM

Hey sbella, seratonin? WOW that's awesome! lol so happy that's how you feel on this Thread hahaha.
This Thread makes me THINK.. hmmm. I used to PLAN self care things but they've mostly just become my routines. I'm a far way from raising the bar though lol... getting there, wherever "there" is lol.
My 3 self-cares today:
~ spent time in the front garden when I got home from work, brought some snacks out for the Adventuring Chooks, clipped away at the shrubs and vines, filling my green bin as I went. Just chilled out in the pleasant weather.
~ then had a LONG nap
~ dealt with a confronting financial issue. Will deal with the next one over the weekend - so FUN! 😂
Hope everyone's doing well!

My 3 today:
~ got the green bin filled yay! Spent some lovely time in my front garden after work.
~ listened to some podcasts in the garden
~ brought preparatory work home to do for a very yucky meeting I have to have next week. Better to be very well prepared I say! (This was to allay the anxiety I felt immediately when the meeting was called).

I need EXTRA self care due to some awful work stressors:
~ said NO to going to a change of venue for a celebration today... raining, didn't want to drive on the Freeway yada yada... then found out there'd been a major collision there today right at the time we'd be travelling! 😪
Sad.
~ agreed to reschedule the Celebration for next weekend, yay,
~ thought out leftovers for dinner, awesome!
~ worked out the management for my kids for my early starts at work this week,
~ nutted out a plan for the stressful work Meeting called... thought about who could help get some paperwork looking REALLY fanceee lol,
~ completed a time consuming work task which is a weight off my shoulders,
~ will have a long hot bath tonight and try a new face mask, maybe even a hair mask,
~ will do my nails,
~ found a great YT channel that reads "Essays" of an Historical nature with NO ADS lol... loving this channel!
~ will set up my BEST outfits for work, iron them and hang them up ready,
~ putting extra bedding on my bed because it's FREEZING tonight!
Am preparing my Sunday shopping list so I'm prepped for lunches. Helps give more time to my work week.
Wish me luck! Prayers are great too lol...

Hi all, great work as always. My self-cares (and boy has it been difficult trying to do stuff for myself lately):
1) Ordered replacements for my frayed phone charger cable (longer one, too, so I can read e-books comfortably in bed even when it's charging) and my little reading lamp (which doesn't charge properly half the time as it's got to that point where I've got to do some real finagling to make it sit at just the right angle to make the charger cable connect properly). Pretty much all my reading in bed options have been systematically removing themselves from my life all at once. I'm having none of it.
2) Took LM for a walk to the wetlands in his new wheelchair. It's been so long since we could go for a walk together since his health really started going downhill. We needed it badly.
3) About to go play a computer game, it's been a while.

Hey BB self-carers!
Nice ones Blue! Gotta keep our technology going, nice to see you finding ways to still have some of the things you need going in your life, like reading.
AND walking in the wetlands.
You're one champion of resourcefulness!
My self-care this morning lol:
~ UP at 4am, an hour before my alarm lol. It's great self-care being more prepared for a tough work day.
~ got to cleanse my face and moisturise,
~ have tons of healthy nutritious food ready for work, gotta keep that energy UP!

My Intentional Self Care today has been:
~ speaking UP when I had the opportunity (miraculously I was heard I think lol)
~ eating the healthy food I took to work
~ resting when I got home.
Heading to bed soon, UP at 3:30am tomorrow. An even earlier start tomorrow.
Hopefully back to normal the day after.

Hi all,
Thanks, EM. Struggling a bit with the self care, but trying really hard. Great work on yours, I can see how hard you're trying too around really difficult circumstances.
My self-cares (on a bit of a winning streak the last couple of days):
1) Attended a doctor's appointment to get some scripts and to address my worsening vertigo. This is big, as I've been buried under so many appointments for my husband that anything like that for me has been on the backburner for months.
2) Got some drawers for LM's meds - another big thing as it's been a nightmare keeping inventory of the huge pile of meds he has to take. We need a better system as he isn't keep track so well and I need to step in more and more to avoid him running out of anything.
3) Another wetland walk with LM. EM, you said you could picture it, so I'll describe more to help that along. We live in a very flat area, so it is fortunately easy to move around with a wheelchair. The wetland is surrounded by garden areas with native plants mulched with bark chips. There are concrete paths in some areas, gravel in others. The general climate is fairly dry, the wetland is artificially constructed, but attracts loads of birds. We see New Holland honeyeaters, noisy miners, blackbirds and starlings, wattle birds, the odd galah and in Summer lots of corellas. There are rainbow lorikeets, sometimes musk lorikeets, and red-rumped parrots. I usually see one or two Willie wagtails. There are tonnes of ducks of different kinds, a few geese, Eurasian coots, purple swamp hens, sometimes cormorants and the odd ibis. Occasional treats are white faced herons, pelicans, and once I saw a nankeen night heron. Swallows put on a real show around dusk, going after the bugs, which we saw this evening. The birdlife is stunning.
4) Watched Taskmaster with LM - good laugh.
5) Played a computer game with LM.
6) Lower on the list because it was yesterday - board games with friends, had a really fun night last night.
