We can do it BBers, we can do self-care.
Sleepy21 pointed out research that shows self-care REALLY helps!
Please share what you do for self-care so we can get inspiration, ideas and motivation to do it too.
Best wishes
EM

Wow self-carers, those are all refreshing to read.
Sleepy I just realised I went shopping and spent $300 yep, and forgot the milk lol.
Note to self... don't go shopping when sad. My friend's daughter passed away today after 2 weeks in a coma.
Hey Tay... I laughed when I saw you liked Crowded House and Split Enz!! I've seen them both in concert and so many other bands... like Fleetwood Mac and Bon Jovi...
"Concerts" was this prehistoric way of seeing a live band! Just joking... I hope these can return one day.
Today I had to do alternative self-care because my anxiety mixed with so much grief made me breathless...
~ left work early, I was too upset when I got the news.
~ I concentrated on my breathing when I got home. Hugged my daughter and our pets.
~ contacted my friend ofcourse... I cried so hard. I met this friend when we were 4yo! I'm so sad they live interstate, breathe.
~ phoned another friend because she asked me to if I heard any news... she was able to talk me thru my tears and have a cry with me.
~ ordered delivery sushi for myself and Yvette for lunch.
~ finally made my lounge arm rests, covered the seat of my antique chair AND made 2 table runners out of beautiful velvety turquoise material and did lots of cleaning and laundry. I may leave home any time to fly to Qld, I guess this was me getting my nest ready or something IDK. (I was going to garden but wanted to be close to Yvette).
~ bought lots when I just popped out for some easy dinners. A pet lounge for rescue poodle, a set of drawers an AIR FRYER Sleepy! lol it was on special at ALDI today... and lots of food.
I didn't want to have a nap, in the hopes I can sleep better tonight.
Love to you all

haha @ecomama I really do love my condensed milk! I had to stop recently though or else I would want to have it all the time again! So now it's back to being a treat.
For self-care today:
1) I aim to play Stardew valley on my Switch. It's so relaxing and such a good self-care strategy.
2) I find being on the forums to be part of my self-care today! I have hit 500 posts yay!
3) I will make a Japanese inspired egg sandwhich!

~ bought ALL the Easter eggs I need for gifts & our Easter egg hunt on Sunday.
HAPPY EASTER everyone!

Hi all,
Haven't felt like I've had much self care lately- which is probably why I fell in a heap!
Today I:
*Bought a yummy lunch, including a flourless chocolate cake, from a place that makes all their own cakes....so delish! Isn't it lucky I'll be working and earning money......Too busy to bake, but I know where to go!
*Walked the dog when I got home. I was pretty fired up over something, so it got the blood pumping...
*Gona hop in my bath now!
Cheers all
J*

Hey J* and missep, those are such sweet self-care things.
I intuit you're enjoying your new job J* and not ONLY the cake?? lol... ENJOY THAT CAKE.
Nice ones.
missep congratulations on getting so many assignments ticked off, watch out world!
well done you.
Hey Malaika! Welcome to the BB forums! Thankyou for joining and also posting on our sweet self-care thread.
I'm so happy you've felt a spark, that's beautiful lol. So happy you're here.
Breathe... my self-care today has been challenging!
BUT here are some lol....
~ asked my boss to skip a (time wasting) function that was already over staffed in my books... so I could continue writing some extremely tricky reports. Data, stats, analysis then a report written in PROSE. (I may regret conceiving this idea one day omg).
oh... my boss said OF COURSE! They love these reports.🤨
~ ate far too well ALL DAY long lol....
~ went to the PET shop, it was GRAND! I restrained myself lol. Bought a sparkly dog tag for rescue poodle - it's so FANCEE. Bought a sack of chook seed too lol. Yum! I got the fancy seed after theirs got drowned in all that rain. My baby girls will love that, it's EASTER! lol.
~ put off dealing with the demanding mail...I'll schedule time for that after the weekend.
Hope everyone can do SOMETHING lovely for themselves today!
Love EM

Hello.EM a very big thank you for welcoming me on the beyond blue forums. My self care for yesterday was :- Got dressed though late in the day it was a huge effort on my part to do that. Made a nice healthy sandwich. Ate 2 cups of natural yogurt, drank lots of natural spring water. Then walked up and down my long yard 3 times although I really didn't feel like it but kept telling myself "this is good for me, so keep going old girl" Came inside, had to recover on a seat with a huge bottle of icy cold natural water. Thankfully there was shade under the trees from the sudden hot autumn weather. With kind regards

Hi everyone,
Big welcome to Malaika- glad you found this lovely thread and shared your self care, good on you for talking yourself thru something helpful- I'm a big believer in moving the body, esp when we don't feel like it! Tbh sometimes that doesn't look like much......but once I get going, then it's easier to keep moving. The law of inertia!
Today I'm:
Making easter buns (probably without the crosses)
Spending time with a friend
Letting myself rest and do whatever I feel like doing. After a full week of work and training, I deserve some time off! It's a pity my alarm clock was still set in the the other room, for 7am......Still, more time for eating!
Happy easter everyone,
J*
