We can do it BBers, we can do self-care.
Sleepy21 pointed out research that shows self-care REALLY helps!
Please share what you do for self-care so we can get inspiration, ideas and motivation to do it too.
Best wishes
EM

WOW self-carers those are AWESOME things you've been doing, I LOVE reading about them all, they really give food for thought to me and others I'm sure.
So thankyou for sharing!
I'd like to share the RESULTS of my self-care because I'm sitting here in delight over it....
* Yvette's mental health has improved out of this world! Not sure if you remember the reason why I began this thread. I was in despair over how to help her, distressed in fact.
Then a 1800RESPECT Trauma Psych told me the best thing I can do for her RIGHT NOW is to practice "radical self-care"... the rest is on this thread, on my thread and woven throughout my whole life atm.
* it seems the C-PTSD trauma responses / triggers have all but disappeared into a faint memory as per my MH goal just short of a year ago. Took a LOT of work, like major work even taking 2 months leave to begin it, then continuing work since but I'm so grateful I'm "here".
* I'm back working fulltime and loving it!
* I'm handling relationship issues & conflict far better than before. My reactions feel more tempered or measured.
Like I have more control over my emotional reactions.
* the depressive waves are lighter or non existent.
* Anxiety seems to have left the building lol. It feels like my lungs can breathe to full capacity now.
* we are all eating more healthily as a family. I am preparing healthy food for work and school every day. It's pretty cool lol.
* my physical health has improved, even though I had unexpected surgery recently - recovery was pretty fast by medical standards.
* my immediate "go to" thoughts referring back to the trauma era have been eradicated or significantly diminished. This was done through spoken language changes - radical changes.
Also knowledge of "feedback loops" and cutting that circuitry to form new knowledge feedback loops. sometimes using 'replacement thoughts'.
Now I can refer to that era when necessary but without any deep emotional attachment.
Humour helped alot too!
* ADVENTURE is happening! Even within confined circumstance. It's been FUN!
Kayaking again soon which is amazing.
In a nutshell the valleys are shallower and the mountains are the mainstay.
It's a beautiful view.
Onwards and UPwards peeps!

I love it Em! Well done!
And thanks for sharing. It helps knowing that this stuff really makes a difference.
Today I:
Shared time with my d, drawing a pic for her to colour in. And just hangin and listening heaps to her thoughts.
Took the dog for a walk- managed in between showers.
Had salad, pasta and chicken strips for dinner. Too easy! (plus some brownie ice cream for dessert- Yummm!)
Cheers,
J*

Oh yeah J* that's so COOL!
Love those. Times with our children is so precious!
My self-care for today was:
* to go "with the flow" and things turned out SO WELL!
* had a laugh at myself, hahaha.
* hiring my gardener today and my garden looks "normal"! Well I'd say exceptional lol. He did a great job. Then offered me a discount to come more regularly and I JUMPED at the offer!
Yes I love gardening but this garden is too big for me atm, working FT, esp with the lantana back.
It'll be a welcomed relief to have him here often.

today for self-care:
1) did some life-admin and filled out my schedule book. It really helps when I plan things out (like assessments) so then nothing comes as a surprise and I am fully prepared for it
2) tonight I am going on a date-night: movies and dinner (this will definitely be self-care!)
3) Pampered myself and did a hair mask

My self-care today:
* ate healthy food.
* stood up to a bully at work, yah she didn't like it so there'll be more to sort out there.
I'll be reporting this caper to my Union Rep tomorrow morning.
* enjoying seeing the moon tonight while I take some time out from cleaning.

Hi all,
I LOVE taking time out with the moon! And the birds and bees. They are so interesting!
Btw what is a hair mask misstep? My hair is oily- would it be any good for it? (I'm trying to imagine egg yolks and yoghurt....?)
Today I:
Swept and vacuumed.
Tye dyed some cloth napkins and other items of clothing. They look really nice now.
Took T with me to town for shopping, extended our afternoon by stopping for coffee/icecream. (she had the icecream lol)
Cheers,
J*
