We can do it BBers, we can do self-care.

Sleepy21 pointed out research that shows self-care REALLY helps!

Please share what you do for self-care so we can get inspiration, ideas and motivation to do it too.

Best wishes
EM

Hey Blue, I'm glad you do too.

Thanks Tay and golden, you're very kind.

golden I'm so happy you are hearing the messages extended to you with love, hope and CONFIDENCE. I have 100% confidence in you all the way. Hugs.

My self-care today lol ummm well we had convalescing dog and eldest daughter here all day until a minute ago, cooking for her work in our air con. Hers is broken. Doggie needed a lot of help today too, darling girl...BUT I'll find some self-care in there somewhere lol!

* called an Aunty after she sent a photo of my WHOLE family on this day when I was 18yo. I was delighted to see JUST how much my son's looked like me, OMG they are SO handsome LOL!!! As they are 18yo now. I sent them the photo and they were blown away! The important thing is Aunty contacted me. Secondly, I now have a precious PHOTO yay! (demon destroyed all my photos).

* moving on lol... watered the garden with tank water before another scorcher of a day.

* allowed eldest d to speak to me from the heart. There was a major issue from her to me a few weeks ago, so still doing what my Counsellor said to do "Be consistently and persistently YOURSELF". D was close to tears at one point, then shared a song list she compiled that reminded her of when it was "just us" meaning before demon.
Thank God she is remembering WHO I am. It was VERY special.

I'll be up at 6am for Yoga then work, then a very late hairdressing appt lol. Kid's stuff in between. Off for a scrub in the bath or shower lol... what a freaking HOT day it was.

I really love this thread.

Posting on this really makes me feel like I am having 'me' time and refilling my cup!

1) I cooked a lot today! Cooking from scratch is such a wonderful feeling and I feel better for it too! I find the process relaxing.

2) Finished a show on Netflix. Watching tv shows is definitely an important part of my self-care routine!

3) Had an iced coffee. This is a common self-care thing for me but I really do enjoy it 🙂

So proud of everyone on here!

Hi all,

EM, great work getting in some self-care around everything. I'll leave yoga before work to you, sounds like too much for ol' sleepyhead, here! Missep, that list really spoke to me. I love cooking and periodically diving into a good TV show, and also iced coffee (albeit with soy milk, dairy isn't my friend, haha). Great that you have things you do regularly, incorporating self-care as a habit/routine is I think what we're really working on here. 🙂

Mine for today:

- Didn't hamstring myself at work. I did cut some hours from the department, but not so many we'd be running on bare bones, as former boss would always be pushing me to do. She's gone now, that voice in my head needs to be banished!

- Got myself a cappuccino (soy, of course), after work. And some nice coffee beans for home.

- Forest walk on the way home. Saw a deer. I know they're feral, but I still like 'em.

Blue.

Hey self-carers!

Nice to read what you're doing for self-care.

I'm back at work now and my first day was 14h long, lol not a good sign!

My recent self-care:

* Yoga before work

* choosing healthy food AND a few treats too

* making my bed.

I'm looking forward to.... seeing my daughter's new car on Sunday! It's very fancy lol.

Ok, it was only 1 thing, but for me it was a really BIG thing. As someone with severe anxiety this is very much out of my comfort zone.

But I joined a football team tonight (as in soccer). I don’t know a single person on the team, but it’s my local suburb club & they were looking for players.

So on a whim I joined. I used to play when I was younger & still love watching the game.
so comp starts in April. I better start working on my fitness & get myself some new boots!

Now when do I put my Cheerleading skills to the test for your games? LOL! April?

Wow. That IS really something TBB. You've blown me away.

Please keep us updated, our most favourite soccer player lol.

My self-care for today:

* had a nap after work, it was so nice lol.

* had a light snack for dinner, feeling a bit yuck after sitting in so many meetings and eating all the cake on offer lol! I had fruit too though, honest!

* cuddles with my poodle.

❤️❤️❤️ thank you ecomama, seeing your support made me feel so good.

ive already started to think about my fitness. Or should I say, lack of fitness. I’m considering running the hill. My place is at the top of a very steep hill & I see people drive up, park & then run up & down the hill 🤣🤣

I’ve walked it & it’s torturous. I might have to walk it a few days before I attempt to jog it. But even considering doing exercise is a new step for me. And if I post here about doing it, then I will feel accountable & might actually do it 🤣🤣

And yes, comp kicks off in April so I’ve got 2 months to start working on it. For some reason I get very embarrassed exercising in public, I think it’s fear of being judged. But now I have a reason to do it I might try harder.

i was so excited about about joining the team last night, I had to message my psychologist to let her know. She responded today saying “fantastic news”.

So feeling good about myself right now
