We can do it BBers, we can do self-care.
Sleepy21 pointed out research that shows self-care REALLY helps!
Please share what you do for self-care so we can get inspiration, ideas and motivation to do it too.
Best wishes

Hey everyone
Been thru quite a bit the last few days, so just working hard inside the house changing rooms and listening to mindless anything online as I do!
Whatever it takes hey guys?
I'm sure we can all read between the lines in people's posts. It's fine to say you're having a crap day (week etc etc), just getting it out there can help others respond better IMHO.
Golden you are most welcome to say it how it is ANY TIME.
Seeing all the high flying self-care can seem like we can't attain that.
But the thing is - we don't have to.
JUST 3 things... maybe you smiled at a post? OMG just as I wrote that THE MOST BRILLIANT FLAMING PINK RAINBOW appeared on my horizon!
Breathtaking.
I feel GRATEFUL (my No 1 today).
YES you do see how I and many others if not ALL of us "get" where you are right now - or were a few days ago.
Definitely OPEN those curtains. Put your sunglasses on if you need to. Get some if you have none (1 self-care step right there - buying sunnies).
Sleepy talks about drinking a nice drink in the sunshine - she's a multi tasking Self-carer lol!
Taking time out +
drinking a nice drink +
getting some Vitamin D, naturally ofcourse as we know our Sleepy lol.
Prob more in there but you get my drift.
Making our bed in the morning or whenever we get out of it is a HUGE self-caring thing to do.
Far more than just being "neat". It's instilling some discipline YAH THAT word lol. It makes us think we can't really back into it as easily if it's made. It LOOKS good to our eyes.
I've started spraying some fragrance spray on my bed after I make it, this signals to me "time to get down to business" - which is just my day.
And you DON'T have to do anything I or anyone else suggests. It's what YOU are going to give a try.
NOT all at once lol you might go off running for the hills!
Be gentle. But a tad forceful.

Hey Not_Batman LOVE that mindfulness you posted. Nice!
Aren't we finished sanding yet? Is there anything left to sand? LOL.
Love reading your self-cares.
Hey Lilly our darling, how you doing today?
I wonder sometimes about being a multiples mum... double (or more) the hormones during pregnancy... I wonder if that means harsher PND than may have been with a singleton. I always wonder things like this. I certainly wanted to scream when a woman said it would be easier!!!
O M G.... I said I had a breath between the births of each of these babies.... you got to go home eat, shhh, sleep, have sex again between yours. Grrrr.
I did have 1 at a time.
NOT EASY but a darned lot easier than multiples.
Hang in there sweetheart.
J* lol what can I say but snap?
When I'm feeling a bit duped with self-care I always read Sleepy's lol... you got this GF!
Mine grrrr lol:
* did NOT respond to a text from a person who was nasty to me on the weekend.
* tried to calm my busy mind with mindless nothings online whilst I..
* continued with changing bedrooms. Slept in my new room last night and it was weird!
I decided to give myself a year to change it to Scandi style (I probably have all the furniture some where lol - that's for later).
For now doing the work for my children's rooms will make me happy.
The carpet is goneskis!
The underlay is too!
The spikey timber edging is too! lol.
Now for the staples....
We're whitewashing that floor in the next few days.
Back to organising my room. 😊😍

Hi all.
EM, When you say youve been through a bit the last couple of days, U OK? I wish i was finished sanding. I did some glueing today, little more sanding, then clear coat, then buffing.
No self care today...at least no conscious SC for me anyway. Took my son to a couple Of medical appts.
hope everyone is well.

Hi all,
Great work guys, as usual. Losing track of the thread again, but have a few notes for you, Golden. For one, reaching out here is an act of self-care in itself, so you're off to a good start. Secondly, I can relate to both your insomnia and your concern about money, I have likewise had many a sleepless night, and a few without a roof over my head. That changes a person.
Regarding your insomnia, something I did to care for myself better was my low budget version of light therapy. Turned lights down low at night, and rigged up a lamp to a timer, set to turn on when I needed/wanted to get up. You mentioned light sensitivity, so maybe one that isn't overly bright for morning, but brighter than night-time lamps. This helps to reset the circadian rhythm - the body responds to light and darkness. Even if you can't sleep well, a better sense of night and day can help your state of mind.
Regarding money - I'm very much the same about putting money away for bills and do so with most of it. But something I built into my budget was entertainment. Based on the premise that a person who spends nothing on themselves becomes very unhappy very quickly and major budget blowouts happen when that comes to crisis point and you just need something before you go mad. That something usually ends up being big, and often fuels regret. So maybe try to think of spending on yourself as a tool for saving money in the longer term, not just on big spontaneous expenses, but on health care. Depriving ourselves damages our physical and mental health. Save some money - buy yourself something nice!
Good news - self-care can absolutely happen in bed! If you're having a day where you really can't bring yourself to get up, you can still take care of yourself. Often after work I'm too sore to do much but crawl into bed even if my mind is alert. You did say music and shows are a bit much for you at the moment. Start small. There are some great (free) nature sound apps around, and I often use these to help me relax. "Nature Sounds" and "Sleep Sounds" are good. Also live streams of animals on YouTube (do you have WiFi?) you can watch on your phone. Type in "live bird cam" or "live fish cam" for some pretty relaxing viewing, just birds feeding or fish swimming around. Helps calm the mind, I have these things on in the morning before every work shift, sets me up on the right track for the day ahead.
Blue.
