I hope I'm doing this correctly..in the right forum..I do pilates at home(doing it 2day), I go to a circuit & Zumba dance class & I also am in a tennis comp..Often at times just attending these activities can be very difficult for me..I can get extremely anxious..it takes a lot of energy at times to make myself go because I know it's good for me mentally to mix & to socialise.. Thank you very much..Gypsy 1

Hi Gypsy 1,

Congratulations for being able to do so much to help yourself physically! You certainly have posted in the right place, sounds like you are working hard to help yourself stay well!

It can be difficult at times due to either depression, stress, anxiety or other issues to decide that not participating is easier than actually pushing yourself to achieve some things. So once again well done to you!

Once you have done the exercise, do you feel better about having achieved that? I know I do!

At present I am recovering from an injury and have been finding it difficult to get motivated to do what I can and to exercise daily. So thanks for your encouraging post!

All the best to you, hope you can continue. If you have days when it is tough, that is okay too. You can try again the next day or later on that same day if possible.

Cheers to you from Dools

Hi Dools,

Thanks very much for your supporting words..I usually feel really good after exercising but at the moment I'm feeling quite stressed & did a workout yesterday without even realising I was doing it!!

I hope your injury heals quickly & that you are able to do little bits of exercise..All the best to you as well..

Cheers to you..Gypsy 1

Hi Gypsy 1,

You have reminded me of a time when I was doing exercises on the floor for my back and I actually fell asleep! Ha. Ha. I woke up a couple of hours later with pins and needles in various body parts!

Stress and anxiety can play on our minds and make daily activities difficult at times. I admire yu for pushing through and realising what helps you.

Once again I would like to remind you that it is okay to have these feelings (as the psychologist keeps telling me) fighting them sometimes makes you feel worse when accepting they are there can help you to push though them.

Recently I pulled a ligament off my ankle, so I may need to be careful for a while until it heals properly. I also have long term chronic pain from a back injury.

I KNOW how beneficial stretches and exercise are for me...it is just a matter of being motivated!

All the best to you, hope you can find ways to reduce the stress and anxiety. Do you know what triggers it for you?

Cheers from Dools

Hey Gypsy,

'Mens sana in corpore sano' - Healthy body, healthy mind!

That is so awesome to hear that you are doing so much. You are an inspiration and should be extremely proud of your self. The fact that you get anxious but push through that barrier and often get out of your comfort zone and force yourself to do it is amazing.

One thing you may want to do is if you are feeling quite anxious for a prolonged period (few days at a time) try exercising in the morning before work or as soon as you get up. Yes getting up at 5:45 or 6am to exercise when you could be sleeping is a pain (I experience this 4-5 days a week LOL) but its well worth it. Exercise releases endorphins and all of my specialist recommend exercising in the morning as it will literally make you feel better for the rest of the day. If it is feasible for you to do so I would recommend it. You are doing great and don't need to do exercise in the morning by all means because you seem to be in a good place at the moment and a good routine but that is just something you may wish to consider moving forward.

Keep smashing it gypsy! Well done!

Nick.
